Re: Serinde lives up to her name update 29 May 2024
Oh, that's definitely true! When you work with such slow crafts (embroidery, weaving), it's almost impossible to give up a piece. You always think you can salvage it if you do this or that. The next piece is about light, for which I have an idea I'm going to be sketching out. If it works out, I migh...

Re: Serinde lives up to her name update 14 May 2024
Here's the first attempt. There is SO MUCH wrong with this weaving... but I was experimenting with a warp that was, it turned out, too slender for the weft with a sett that was also wrong (should have been 12 warps/inch instead of 7.5). Luckily, you can't tell how "sleazy" (by which I mean...

Re: 2024 Quick Daily Posts
Thought your work schedule had taken over, which was why we hadn't been seeing you much here. You are allowed to collapse into a deck chair (or whatever) with a cold (or hot) something in a glass (or mug) after you return home on Friday. MIL being out of hospital is probably a better thing for all, ...

Re: Talking of socks
My son would never have a matching pair if he just folded them. Although, come to think of it, his socks are either black or white... so perhaps pairing isn't that important...

Re: Talking of socks
The difference with your sock stash, of course, is that you actually use it. I rearrange my wool stash, and occasionally pet the silk stuff, but actually use it? Heresy!

Re: Jo's Stitching 2024
Agree with Mabel. This is a complicated design by the mistress of complicated designs. Slower perhaps, but well worth it.

Re: Quilting?
No wonder crazy quilting is very popular! I guess I never realised the precision needed for these named quilt designs, like Flying Geese or (my favourite name) Burgoyne Surrounded. Good luck!

Re: Talking of socks
How wonderful are these?!? A very good reason to knit. I follow a group on Ravelry to do with a particular hand-dyer of wool, and the members make incredible socks (among other things; shawls are a favourite). It's a real skill.

Re: Serindë's Stitching adventure 2024 17 May
I thought so, but I'm always happy to have a second opinion. I am now over a quarter of the year done -- indeed, over a third -- am I can't say each day comes naturally to me yet! I often think I should take my time, except that I already stitch slowly. Let's just say I'm probably overcomplicating t...

Yes, I did couch it down --- not particularly well, it must be said, and I may try to sneak a few more "aurora" threads in where it's a bit thin. But it did the job. (Is brighter in real life: the colour is Caron threads "Aurora", spookily enough.) https://i.postimg.cc/Yqp15BC7/t...

Re: 2024 Stash & Grab Virtual Pub
I try to limit my stitch posting to once a week because no one else seems to be cross stitching anything. We seem to have lost Wendy when the forum crashed, I saw Nicola commented on a post the other day but no stitching updates and of course it is ages since we heard from Lyudmilla or Sally. I've ...

Re: 2024 Stash & Grab Virtual Pub
Not as much as I'd like to :-( - partly for very pleasant reasons like outings and a cousin visiting from the Netherlands, partly work and other commitments, but it means I have done no Certificate homework at all, and FoF is sadly neglected. Also, my eye problems are getting worse, which is worryi...
