I'm happy to be returning

I'm so delighted to be back to cross stitching at long last. Between cataract surgery, starting university and lots of spells of ill health I was unable to to do any stitching. My DH and DD missed me saying "I've lost my needle"! I kept my stash safely and helped a couple of new stitchers ...

Re: Froggers (stitch unpickers) and Scissor fobs

I have one of her needle holders and love it. It arrived quickly and had been in constant use. Oh, and because it's Snoopy it always makes me smile.

Life is taking a new direction

I'm glad to be able to spend more time stitching and reading the 'news' on here.My health ups and downs have caused me to stop my studies which means more stitchy time. It's good to get back to a hobby and people that I've missed. I'm also glad I kept all my stash!

Re: How do I stop flipping my aida?

I mostly do loop starts when possible and always start from the back. I will now do my loop starts from the front. When I can't use a loop I start from the back and tuck the threads under a few stitches to anchor the end. And I always flip to end the same way. How do you start and end from the front...

Re: I'm back again

Thank you for the kind thoughts and words. I'm hoping the health will keep improving, albeit slowly. I am reading a hardback novel just for fun! It's been a while since I've done that. I intend to see if I can use my tablet pc as a chart instead of using a paper one, but will need to work on my tabl...

Re: Giveaway

I've liked your page because I do like it. I've also shared it with a facebook group of stitchers, if that's okay. I'm not saying anything there about the giveaway though. If they see it, fine, if not that's fine.

I'm back again

and eager to get back into stitching. I have been studying for a Open University degree for the past 2 1/2 years but due to ill health I've had to defer for a year. That gives me more stitchy time instead of using it for study time. :whoop: I'll miss study but enjoy the free time and picking up hobb...

Re: Avatar name?

I chose freelady when I retired and started using MySpace and FaceBook because I was now free to spend time as I pleased. One man contacted me on MySpace who thought I was a Free Lady in another sense! Now I use freelady for most things.

I'm so sorry about your mother but at least now they know what to do for her. The jacket is lovely and such a thoughtful thing for them to do for you.

Re: Advice on Blended Threads?

I agree with all the others have said about blended threads. I just finished a project that used them for the skirt and the result is fab. I put my blends on a separate bobbin for each one with the symbol on it. That way I didn't have to keep finding separate threads. The colours I used as blends we...

Re: A little enabling!!!!

Wouldn't you know it? I went there with a friend yesterday and we covered every inch of the place. I needed on skein of DMC and that is all I bought. I didn't see anything I really liked, needed or wanted to do.

Re: Does Aida look okay framed for large pieces?

My viewpoint is that you are doing cross stitch for pleasure so should use whatever pleases you. If it were a commission and you were being paid, that's one thing, but otherwise.....
