Re: Where's your stitching place?

I've been away for a while but this sounds like fun! I have a fancy recliner in my bedroom next to the fireplace - across from the tv that is mounted on the wall. On my left - a pair of shelves. My Needleneeds lap stand with my WIP goes on the top shelf and the bottom shelf holds my coffee cup, phon...

Re: Mom got a new sewing machine...

That's fantastic! Did she make up the pattern herself? Yes. We are doing a bit of "tweaking" as there are a couple of things she doesn't like about this one, or thinks could be done better. She is tossing around the idea of selling them (and a couple of other things I have her working on ...

Mom got a new sewing machine...

And her first project was a case for my Millennium frame. http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j250/LilacDragon/framecase_zps87ddb635.jpg The picture doesn't do it justice. It is lined with a solid purple material and there is a layer of batting between them. It zips shut, so keeps my projects tidy and...

Re: OT - What's for dinner?

This is week 2 that I can barely move so dinners have been pretty awful. Lots of microwavable garbage for my guys.

Last night my son requested bacon wrapped honey-mustard chicken, so that is what is for dinner tonight. I'll probably make some stuffing for the guys and angel hair pasta for me.

Re: Happy Birthday, LilacDragon!

Thanks, ladies!!

It has been an interesting day. It is absolutely frigid outside and I spent most of the evening in my heated recliner next to the fireplace - stitching, of course. I pulled a muscle in my back a week ago and this is the first I have been able to stitch.

Re: OttLite question

You can have Joanne send you e-mails with the different "deals" they have throughout the year. I get LOTS of 50% off coupons in e-mails from them and yes, Ottlights are on sale all the time. I wouldn't fight the crazy in the stores today for an Ottlight.

Re: OttLite question

I have 2 - a floor lamp that I use daily and a table model that folds up some that goes with me when I travel. I find that the light is "cleaner" and now that I have one, I can't imagine not using one. I haven't had either for a whole year yet, so I can't speak on how long the bulbs last. ...

Re: Newbie Looking to Find Her Cross Stitching Mojo Back

I am nearsighted, so I use extended wear contacts. This means that if I want to stitch, reading glasses are a must. I also need them to read, so I have several pair that I have picked up at the local store. My most comfortable pair stay next to my stitching spot. I also use a magnifying light. It is...

I am thinking that the Christmas package might include a picture because I really don't think I am going to finish this in time to frame it and get it in the mail.

Image

I am in love with it! It is just beautiful.

Re: How do I improve my stitching?

Oh, my! Your stitching looks lovely! For what it is worth - here are my thoughts on stitching and neatness. I try to be neat on the front but if some of my stitches are a little uneven or if a missed stitch (or an extra) means that I will have to do a ton of frogging, chances are the problem is goin...

Re: Cross-stitch obsession...

Oh, my!

Unless I am ill, I end almost every day with some time in my recliner watching television and stitching. Usually with a fire going in my fireplace.

If it is a mental illness - feel free to lock me up! But please let me take my stitching supplies and my recliner!

Re: looking fir a chart for a few years.

I have purchased a lot of stuff from vendors on Amazon and always get what I ordered very quickly and in excellent shape. For example - I ordered 2 books a couple of weekends ago on different orders from different vendors and had both of them in less than a week.

Re: Reading a pattern while stitching...

I have a magnetic board that I keep my pattern on. I usually balance it on my knee and the arm of my recliner. Just a thought but I have been thinking about getting a music stand to put my magnet board on. Since they adjust up and down, I will be able to adjust it so that I can see it and it'll be o...

Re: How do you put the floss on the bobbins?

Oh, my! It takes enough time away from stitching just to wrap the whole skein around the bobbins - I can't imagine pre-cutting and pre-separating the threads as well! Besides, you never know when you might need something a little shorter or if maybe you need 3 strands or 1 strand instead of two.

Re: HAED Mini The Black Update 10/9 page 3

This is looking great. I am going to stitch this one someday as well but I'm not brave enough to do it on black fabric. I will be stitching all the never ending pages of black floss. It will be interesting to see the difference between the two. Keep up the good work. I am going to stitch the black ...
