My son Daniel was born on August 23 at 4:35 am after only 4 1/2 hours of labor. a month later and the chaos has fallen into a routine of a sort, and I have a few moments to do some stitching in between diapers and dishes. htt...

Re: Extra fabric while you're stitching

I'll use clips and grime guards for most of my projects, but for the ones with a ton of extra fabric I take out a scroll frame.

Re: Summer Fires! No injuries.

glad no one was hurt! doesn't sound like a terribly big fire but any out of control fire is a scary thing.
the beginning of this summer was looking pretty bad for wildfires here, but the rain helped clear that up and the rest of the summer has been fine. nothing like last year!

Re: How do you organize your floss?

I haven't read through all 265 replies and it looks like this thread has been going for a number of years. Pardons if this has already been posted. I got this from a picture I saw on Pinterest while looking for ideas for storing a large stash of floss. You get a hanging file box and the correspondi...

Re: Question about placing design on fabric too wide for a f

my horses of neptune project is 36" long, I put it sideways on the frame. Im stitching my x's sideways aswell so that they go in the "normal" direction, but its not necessary. I put my pattern sideways to match, its just easier if the pattern and the stitches are oriented in the same ...

Re: Stash and Grab 2016

Hi. I'm not sure where to post this, so if this is the wrong place please tell me where to post it. My mom passed away of Friday, June 24 at home after battling acute leukemia. My mom was one of my best friends and I miss her like crazy. She deteriorated very quickly and I can't believe she's gone....

Re: 2016 Round in Circles Hardanger SAL

Hope that makes sense. oh, ...

Re: How do you transport WIPs while on-the-go?

I stitch on my lunch break at work, I keep it in a large ziplock bag. I have the project on a q snap, the floss on bobbins or an floss organisor card in a small bag, needles I have stuck in my q snap grime guard, scissors and pattern are just thrown in the bag if its a larger project (I've taken a H...

Re: A 14-Count vs. 18-Count ?

2 or 3 strands full cross on 14ct using regular stranded cotton will get you better coverage, Id likely go with 3 strands because of all the black. Pearl is usually used for specialty stiches rather than cross stitch. nothing wrong with using it in cross stitch, but as you have noticed you dont get ...

Re: Newbie Question About Stitches

stitching all the bottom legs first then going back to finish the crosses (danish method FYI) is how I do most of my stitches when parking, as it does leave you nice and close to the beginning of the next row. I use the scarlet quince method of parking if doing half stitches where there is no top ro...
