Re: Quilting help please

Alright.. your thread has me motivated to DO something. Even if that something is just tossing all the piles of jeans I've collected into the wash this weekend so they're all clean and ready to start cutting. I managed to cut my indexfinger of my left hand pretty badly 2 days ago (hasn't been a good...

Re: Please help converting count sizes!

I just had a thought.. why are you using linen and not evenweave? Linen does tend to have a slubby uneven texture - some brands more s than others, while evenweave is usually absolutely even. If you look at my pictures above the largest one of the girl in the kimono is on evenweave, while the smalle...

Re: Dance Under The Rain - Possible New Project?

... The beauty of this painting is in all the shades of colors, I think it needs a high color range to truly capture it properly. .... I agree with Needleandfork. The more colors, the more true you can be to the original art. I disagree that too many colors will mute the vibrance. Just the opposite...

Re: Please help converting count sizes!

I don't have any 36 count, but I've got scraps of 32 if you want me to drop a bit in the mail for you to try out. I keep all the little peices trimmed off the edges of ornaments to play around with, and could drop a piece or two in the mail for you if you'd like so you have an idea of what it's like...

Re: Dance Under The Rain - Possible New Project?

Oh, I am so glad to see this! I have this image saved on my computer (or maybe a different but similar one by the same artist?) as a potential someday project. The vivid colors in it speak to me too! I will be watching your progress with great interest to see how yours turns out. That said, there ar...

Re: Please help converting count sizes!

First of all, that's a gorgeous pattern! If you're stitching over 2 on 28 count fabric, you're essentially forming your stitches at 14 stitches/inch, which would be the same as stitching on 14 count aida. That will make your piece come out a bit bigger than if stitched on 18 count aida that came wit...

Re: Socky socks! - New pics 2/14!

Wow.. I knew it had been a while since I last worked on these socks or updated my post here about them, but I hadn't realized just how long. Oops! And to think there was a point where I averaged 1 - 2 PAIRS of socks a month! I am definately going to have to try to do better. http://i1295.phot...

Re: Italian needle lace

Wow.. that looks amazing. Yet another craft I simply must learn. I learned to knit lace several years ago and since tthen have been obsessed with it. This looks like a very portable type of project too! Must investigate more! Though I seriously doubt I'm going to try to make a tablecloth. Maybe a bi...

Re: Full set of DMC threads

I own a full set. I didn't start out intending to buy the full set, I bought what I needed for the first HAED I started and the next one I wanted to do. I had to order them online because I live in a small town and walmart is my LNS - they carry about 100 colors only and are always out of stock of a...

Re: Your Stitching Style - Opinions and Advice

On HAEDs I park. No ifs, and, or buts about it. I started off with strict 10x10 grids, but gave up on that and just let the pattern itself guide me, working areas of similar colors. This is an older picture of one of my HAEDS, Ive done a lot more since then, but I think it shows well that I'm workin...

Re: Quilting help please

That looks greeat!!I have a huge pile of denim I have been collecting to make a quilt as well and I just can't deide what pattern to use. Part of me things a denim quilt needs to be simple and rustic like yours, but the creative side of me wants to make something more elaborate. But yours looks so e...

Re: My biggest project yet.

Looking great! I look forward to seeing your progress on the piece. As for lighting, I use a cool white daylight bulb in a regular gooseneck lamp. Mine is only 60W but throws off really bright light that is WHITE, not yellow, and didn't cost an arm and a leg to buy. I know there are better lightbulb...

Re: Needles

Woah. I don't think I've ever had any that have done that on me! I use a mix o DMC and Bohin 28s with a few 26s mixed in. The worst that happens is the eyes on the 28 start getting all bent out of shape until they're impossible to thread quickly. That's when they go in my retired needles page of my ...

Re: Cross Stitcher's Ward 2015

My back's been acting up something awful for the last week. It seems better today and I hope I don't do anything to aggravate it.
