Re: Marking patterns

I work off a digital copy of my chart rather than a paper copy. I buy my patterns in digital form whenever possible, and if the only option is a paper copy, unless it's a very simple pattern that I won't need to mark to keep track of where I am, I scan it in and use that as my 'working' copy since ...

Re: Marking patterns

This is embarrassing for me cause you would think it would be common sense....but there is always atleast one "duh" moment in everyone's life. I had never thought about making a working copy until I came to this site. I do have to say it might be a good idea to make a copy of the list of ...

Marking patterns

To any newbies make a copy of your original pattern and as you sew each cross mark of with highlighter where you are up to this simple task will help you keep your place as it can be easy to get lost on a pattern :tantrum:

Re: Nicola's Needlework

Whilst doing a Google search for Christmas themed cross stitch kits I found a lovely chickadee by Valerie Pfeiffer wearing a Christmas hat. He was so cute I just had to have him! I finished him yesterday so here's the finished design. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7292/10329533923_450119b5d6_z.jpg ...

Re: I really need to stop looking at the Haed website

I check in at Haed a couple of times a week and I have just bought the new Aimee Stewart cross stitch Treasure Hunt Bookshelf, I've justified this purchase because I think its the prettiest design I have seen on the site and I love books I'm very happy :D But I really have to ban myself for the nex...

Re: Neat crosses

I would like to try railroading but never think of it at the right time. I would like to improve my stitches. I recently started doing the loop method to start a new thread. I have always used two strands for my projects, and I am loving the loop start. It has all but eliminated knots for me, and m...

Neat crosses

Having done only a few cross stitches I had tried the different ways so as to sew without my thread becoming tangled,I found that doing one full cross at a time works best and also I now railroad my stitches the results are that my work looks very clean, even and neat. The railroading does take a lit...

Re: Suggestions for a Newbie!!

[quote="megan_bright"]I have a question... I just bought the pattern for a HAED and it's going to be a huge project. I've never done a pattern that was more than 4 pages long before. I've noticed that people mark off the sections like in marker or some ink. Is that a good idea? To mark off...

Re: Suggestions for a Newbie!!

For headaches, I use a technique that I was taught to avoid headaches when spending too much time at the computer - look up every few minutes. I usually do my stitching when sitting with my housemates as they are watching TV. I don't pay too much attention to what is on the tube, but it gives me so...
