Re: 2 questions about plastic frames/q snaps
The genuine Q-Snaps are, IMO, much superior to the off-brands as far as tension and durability, so I can't speak to the tricks folks use to get better tension with non-Q-Snaps brands. I believe I've seen replacement clamps, so you might do some investigating to see if you can find them to replace t...

2 questions about plastic frames/q snaps
Hey stitchers =] Sorry if this is lengthy but I'm desperate for answers... So, I got the generic brand of Q-snaps from Michael's, the plastic frame that Loops & Threads makes and they worked perfectly at first. I wanted to try what I saw some other stitchers do which was to put that grippy shelf...

Open folders to view files (using window explorers) You use this option. It will open the folder. Once the folder is open, keep it open in the background and then here is what you do. 1. Go to >>Start Menu<< 2. Click >>My Documents<< or >>Documents<< 3. Create a New Folder and name it something alo...

Re: The Stag - my new start :)
Oh for Pete's sake! Why would anyone care how many projects you have going?! that's what I thought lol! My older sister brought it up once "Why do you keep starting new projects?" and I said "Why do you keep getting in your little car crashes?" (She's gotten in 3, this past summ...

Re: Something isn't right!
I have no choice to put my stitch bug to sleep for awhile, sometimes. I had a research paper I was working on for two weeks and could only stitch at night (some nights not at all), now that my research paper is done I have all this time to stitch but kinda hard to get back into the groove of things....

Re: Which is the best cross stitch magazine?
My local thrift stores and antique shops always have cross stitch magazines and books, most for under $3! The cheapest one I got was 20 cents. Most of them are old but doesn't matter to me, the patterns in them are timeless. I get Cross Stitch gold, Just Cross Stitch, and Cross Stitch Crazy at books...

Re: Which is the best cross stitch magazine?
I really love the Cross Stitch Gold, and World of Cross Stitch....they have such beautiful designs in them....but of course I'm in the US, so they are a little expensive for me so I buy them only from time to time when the designs really draw me in at the bookstore --of which I don't get to often, ...

Re: Confessions of a Cross Stitcher
Instead of using needle threaders or licking my thread (I don't like how it feels on my tongue) I cut out a piece of note card paper small enough to slip through the eye of the needle, and use it as a DIY needle threader. I feel like not buying needle threaders is sticking it to the man! here's a vi...

Re: Perceived value of needlework
I'm a selfish stitcher !!! For not gifting them? You stitched them, you've acquired all the supplies, it's your hobby. I don't think you're being selfish for not giving away things you've spent hours on. The only time I gift to non-family members is when my friends come over and see what I'v...

Re: Perceived value of needlework
I know exactly what you're talking about, I just started gifting project because before I was always worried about a persons reaction. I find people are most satisfied when I personalize the project to something I know they will like. I designed a pattern for my dad, and the design was the cover of ...

Here's a whole pic of it, not done obviously
the pattern is on page 40 of the Just Cross Stitch halloween issue, that's where I got it.
But here is how it looks finished from the designers site!

Re: How do I improve my stitching?
My only suggestion would be to not use red floss for gridding. Buy a spool of regular machine thread. Lime green, electric purple, metallic blue.. something that will stand out on any project. yeah, I know a few people mentioned that. I don't usually grid my projects, I did it because I kept messin...

How do I improve my stitching?
So, I'm 18 been stitching since I was 11. I don't know if it's because I'm young or what but I'm dissatisfied with how my stitching looks. When I look at other peoples work on the forum and just what finished patterns look like in magazines and compare with my own, mine looks dull and my stitches do...

Here's my completed Mill Hill kit called Midnight Farm! It contains some glow-in-dark thread that you can see in the second picture! Re: Just Cross Stitch Halloween SAL 2013
It is a small world, lol - I used to work in Garden Gove, Lampson & Valley View. Lived in Laguna though... I do miss living at the beach but I don't miss all the people. :) Lampson/VV...on the good side of GG...but living in Laguna was probably a better idea. :-) I don't miss the people, either...
