Thanks for the tips everyone - I've never used grids, but I might give it a go if I start my huge HAED pattern!

That's looking beautiful. I think Teresa Wentzler is one of the most challenging of all cross stitch designers.

Re: Feeling discouraged
I too just started a piece with heaps of confetti, blended threads and half crosses - it's a Teresa Wentzler piece called - 'Millennium'. I'm always careful with the backs of my work, but like you, the back of this piece is terrible. I don't care too much, I'll just be really happy when it's finishe...

Re: Ok, what's with the love/hate with HAED
I love HAED cross stitch - or maybe I just love the 'idea' of them. Let me explain. I really enjoy fantasy art, so already that's a plus with HAED. I recently purchased a cross stitch design from them. It's called 'Treasure Hunt Bookshelf'. I love this artwork for its complexity and detail. However,...

I love it when men stitch - just taught my 10 year old son to cross stitch and tapestry. He's loving it!

Re: Large Treasure Hunt Bookshelf released today!
Hi all I just purchased HAED Treasure Hunt Bookshelf - large version. My husband and I worked out that it contains 282,500 crosses. I believe I can cross-stitch around 50 crosses a day. So here's some maths: 282,500 crosses in total divided by 50 crosses (per day) equates to 5650 days to complete. 5...
