Re: Quick daily posts

I haven't been able to stitch, I just moved from Long Island to New Hampshire. Got out of NY just in time.

Latest Project

This piece is 3ft by 2ft. I started it May of 2015. I did a lot of smaller projects during this time. While you really can't see it there were a ton of color changes on the outside of each letter. Sorry for not ironing it yet. I'm not getting it framed until I move to NH early next year. No point in...

Just cross stitch 2016 Halloween issue

If someone could help me I would truly appreciate it. I have miss placed the magazine and the color code chart that I photo copied for the project, it's all about the treats. I have the pattern that I copied but I'm only about 1/2 through the project and cannot reproduce all of the colors for the ch...

Re: Your longest piece

Wow. What incredible pieces, Richard. How many hours a day do you stitch? I think I average 14 hours a week. I will go a couple of days of not stitching then NASCAR comes on and I sit there stitching for the entire race :)

Re: Your longest piece

Holy moly that is some piece. I just got a Cinderella piece that is like that one. Everything is covered in stitches. It's kind of intimidating though.

Your longest piece

I've been working on a Disney alphabet since May 2015. It has tons of color changes. Each letter takes about a month to complete. It's taking so long that I've had to work on other pieces because the color change makes me crazy I have 6 letters to go so I'm hoping it will be completed by the end of ...

Re: So excited!

LOL I had that experience a couple of years ago. My sons gave me the floss wooden draw organizer from Herrchners (sp?). I sat there for hours putting together and organizing my floss. I was so sore, afterwards. It took so much longer then I thought it would but it was a GREAT day for me.

Re: Stitching & TV

As others have said it depends on the show. I cannot watch football and stitch.... too much going on. NASCAR and stitching, oh go team! That's my favorite or I will put on something I know. Some Cary Grant movies I can say verbatim lol. The Thin Man Movies, those I can re-listen to any day of the we...

Re: How do you organize your floss?

Thank you for the compliment! I was really happy on how they turned out. I fit about 8 skeins comfortably. I did just check a "stuffed" draw... it had 12 in it. Since this is my spare floss I put a range of 4 colors per draw. Only a couple had a lot of floss in it.

Here's my new organization draws. Overall, to do everything, cost me under $60.

Extra floss storage

How do you store your extra floss? I have mine in plastic bags on rings. It's quite a mess. I have 5 rings and while be workable they are a pain in the fadiddle fadat (my grandmothers term) I've been looking a plastic storage cabinets with small draws. Hopefully one cabinet that holds a number of co...

Re: Bobbins

So, the point of the story is you get what you pay for :) I've never used DMC. I will have to give them a try. Worst part is I don't really use too many now since I have both mine and my mother's stash so there was no excuse to buy crappy ones. The bobbins are the, just in case I lose one or when DM...

Bobbins

I had to buy bobbins (recently) for some of my new threads. They are complete garbage, too thin and flimsy. Anyone have a recommendation other then the plastic ones? I use the plastic boxes to manage my threads. I have ones from when I first started stitching circa 1992 and they are wonderfully stro...

Re: Mounting and framing projects

Thanks for the feedback. After posting last night my husband found a tacking tool on Amazon and I found acid free tape. It will be a $50.00 investment for the tools I think I need. That doesn't seem too bad. My husband does meticulous work... I may have to give this a try.

Mounting and framing projects

Maybe someone can help me. I don't want to dive into this, have it cost me a fortune and it not work out well. I have at least 6 projects that need framing. It is getting so expensive that I haven't framed the project that I posted here in honor of my brother that had passed away (please don't be so...

Clean an old piece

I just found a piece that my mother must have done almost 25 years ago, for my son, when he was first born. The piece was at the bottom of her sewing basket. It's not particularly "dirty" but is in need of some cleaning up. Does anyone have a good suggestion. Sadly, she stitched on white l...
