Re: How to make your own Q-Snap "grime-guard"
I am currently making my third, and will soon be making a fourth. As I suspected, I now wonder how I ever managed without a grime guard. I do have one suggestion others may find useful. For Step 4 STEP 4. Iron the fabric. Then with right side facing down, turn in 1/4". I finger press it first,...

Re: How to make your own Q-Snap "grime-guard"
Thank you for this tutorial. I have tried twice with a tutorial I found through Google...and I'm not happy. I found this link on Pinterest. I'm hoping to try it tomorrow. I also have this tutorial on Flosstube (aka YouTube), see it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1n_P_28ZkJk" target=&quo...

looking for freebie pattern "Four Little Hearts"
I found a super cute biscornu pattern via google image search, called "Four Little Hearts" by Indigo Rose. All references I've been able to find say that it is a freebie pattern, but try as I might, I cannot track down a copy of that pattern. This is what it looks like: http://i1370.photob...

looking for source on copyrighted pattern
I found this pattern via google image search: http://i1370.photobucket.com/albums/ag259/afdish/16_zpsa8676bf7.jpg It has a copyright block, but the image is just too low res to read it. I would love to do this pattern, but I am hoping to find out who did it. I don't want to violate any copyright. Do...

Re: How to make your own Q-Snap "grime-guard"
Hey everyone! I just made one adjustment to my tutorial. I changed the width of the starting fabric from 7" to 5 1/2". The 7" one for my 11x15 frame configuration for the Passione Ricamo SAL worked well, because I had a bunch of extra fabric to corral. But I made another grime guard w...

Re: OT:Tip for Jigsaw Puzzle lovers - make your own sorting
Quick question--my DH and I are trying to make these boards...and we are not overly crafty (to put it mildly!!). Did you use an exacto knife to cut the strips. We are having a real challenge making them look neat...any advice for a 10 thumbs pair?? I used a quilters cutting mat, ruler, a long strai...

Re: OT:Tip for Jigsaw Puzzle lovers - make your own sorting
Sounds as if you're happy to leave your sorting trays uncovered? I've found that because of the raised lip on the trays, they stack very nicely without the pieces getting disturbed at all. And when they're all stacked up, only the pieces on the top tray are visible, and if necessary I could always ...

OT:Tip for Jigsaw Puzzle lovers - make your own sorting tray
I love jigsaw puzzles! I am just now getting back into doing them. I had to take an extended hiatus while waiting for my son to get old enough to not mess with it. I couldn't seem to find what dark corner my old sorting trays currently reside in. They were from an old puzzle travel kit, made of card...

Re: Love Owl #2 finished
Very cute. Did you stitch it over one? How many strands of floss? Sorry if that's stupid question. That is certainly not a stupid question at all! I stitched over 2 threads with 2 strands. BS on leaves is 1 strand, and text is BS with 2 strands. btw - thank you everyone for such wonderful comments!

knots (the good kind) - how do you?
I'm curious....
Do you use French knots or Colonial knots?
Do you come up and go down in the same hole, or do you keep at least a fabric thread in between the come up and go down points?

Re: OT: Hating credit card hackers!!!
I had that happen just over a month ago. As I was coming home from participating in the Bataan March, Discover Card calls me to let me know someone tried to buy $1400 airline tickets. Since it obviously wasn't me (I was out on the march course since before sun-up), they determined my credit card num...

Here's something that might help you. http://www.better-cross-stitch-patterns.com/cross-stitch-graph-paper.html" target="_blank" target="_blank That is awesome. I've been using a graph I created in Word Excel some years ago. I had to fiddle with the cell sizes until I got it eve...

Re: Question regarding Q Snaps
My favorite Q-snap configuration is also 11 x 8 combo, but not exactly, it is more like 11 x 9 5/8. I figured out this is because each q-snap consists of 4 elbow pieces and 4 connector pieces. The 8x8 comes with connector pieces that add just 1/8" to the overall length, and the 11x11 comes with...

Do you keep a stitching journal?
I am thinking about starting a stitching journal, but I'm having some trouble deciding on the format and details. I would love to see/hear about your journals. When you started the journal, did you start at the present day and document from that point forward, or did you also document some of your p...

why do kit makers insist on not giving enough fabric margin?
Once again I open up a kit and start preparing it only to find the fabric in the kit has barely 1.5 inch margains, which is not enough for me to use my Q-snaps. Last time it was a medium size project, and I solved that instance with a stretcher bar frame, which worked perfectly. But this kit is a sm...

Re: Following charts
For cross-country stitching, I highlight the color I am working on in yellow highlighter, and then go over it in orange (or pink when orange isn't available) when they are stitched. It really helps me keep track and see where the stitches are so I can quickly plan out my stitching path. My marking m...

I stitch "in the well" on my Millennium with no problems at all. http://i1370.photobucket.com/albums/ag259/afdish/IMG_2371_zps0c702f1f.jpg My 20" bars with 8" sides and project loaded into it, using my postal scale, comes to 1lb 15.3oz. I ordered 30" bars 3 weeks ago, so whe...
