Re: Forest by Satsuma Street
Thanks all! The colours are beautiful. My next project is huge but only uses 28 very earthy tones. I might need to intersperse it with a few more colourful designs to give my eyes a break!

The forest is growing! http://i1156.photobucket.com/albums/p574/ladybossloz/IMG_20140506_093925.jpg I'm over halfway done now :D and last night just purchased all the goodies for my next project! It's this one: https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/68298828/mushroom-sampler-digital-cross-stitch" targ...

Re: Experience with higher-count linen?
Hi Serinde - great to hear Light Sand gets a tick! Is it distinctly yellowish, or is it more on the white side, like a cream or ecru? By the way - I may have just kitted up for my second project, but wow, I am in love with Ink Circles now! Such gorgeous patterns!!! :tizzy: Thanks Megan! Yep, I'm fee...

Re: Experience with higher-count linen?
Hi mushroom fanciers! So, I popped into the craft store today and had a look at the different counts. I was going to buy materials for a test piece, but I have decided to just dive in and go with the original size. I'll be working on 32 ct linen over two. I think Ruthi is right - it will look...

Re: Experience with higher-count linen?
Hi Ruthi - thanks so much for your thought-provoking reply. I guess what worries me about it being large is that when compared to patterns from HAED or Scarlet Quince, it has so few colours and hence I'm worried that the images will be too "blocky" and unsophisticated large. My thinking wa...

Re: Experience with higher-count linen?
Hi cairee and Allyn - thanks for the tip about the waste knot! I always thought they were for starting only (I've never used one before) so great to know they are the solution for finishing too! Hi meganh - hmm, that's definitely something to consider! I'll put the measurements in the calculator I f...

Re: Experience with higher-count linen?
Hi cairee - thanks for sharing your experience! I'm going to go for it. Just bought the pattern - whee!!! :whoop: Can I ask everyone - how do you finish a row or a colour when working with such tiny stitches? Do you run the thread under the last few stitches as usual, or do you find it's too tight t...

Re: Experience with higher-count linen?
Hi NeedleAndFork, Serinde and booknurd - thanks so much for sharing your experiences. Maybe over one on 25 ct or 28 ct indeed the way to go. I'm nervous about the new techniques - "long arms" and "smart loops", as per here: http://www.funkandweber.com/cross-stitch-over-one-thread...

Experience with higher-count linen?
Hi all, I'm thinking about this pattern for my next project: https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/68298828/mushroom-sampler-digital-cross-stitch?ref=favs_view_2" target="_blank" target="_blank However, the finished dimensions on 16ct Aida cloth are a whopping 21" x 31.25"! I...

Re: Question regarding Q Snaps
Thanks for the replies, and Lozze sorry for hijacking your thread a little! I am still torn between buying and "being good". The extremely frustrating thing is that the postage to me in Australia is more than the frame itself, and any Australian retailers are selling the frame for r...
