Re: I'm back :)
Also, I am definitely stubborn  I was pretty defiant when I wanted to do everything myself. Age is a huge part too, I'm so thankful this happened now since the older one gets the longer the recovery tends to be. The older patients definitely got a kick out of me and I had a lot of fun doing rec...

Re: I'm back :)
My dad called the school to let them know what had happened and the head of my program left a message for me, saying that my first semester marks were great (I think my GPA was around 3.75 out of 4) and I could return whenever I felt better and start back where I left off in second semester. Since t...

Re: I'm back :)
Thank you Sally! It has been quite surreal as I never imagined such a thing could happen but the staff at the hospital and of course my family were so supportive and encouraging. They even had a Needlepoint that another patient had left in the occupational therapy room that they let me work on to im...

I'm back :)
I haven't posted in quite some time as I decided to go back to school last fall as a full time student and was quite busy. I got to go to the Fall Creativ Festival here in Toronto and took some classes and got lots of goodies for my stash :) After Christmas I became very ill with alternating fevers ...

Re: Enlarging a project
I've done this before, only a little different - i had a pixellated image that I wanted to be bigger. I enlarged it by 500% so that each pixel would be 5x5 pixels (for visibility when printing, and so I could draw in the symbols) and then enlarged it by 500% again, so each original pixel was now 20x...

Re: Stitchng over one
Thanks everyone. I did some test stitches at the beginning but it was hard to tell with such a small area. I've now got about 1200 done and I really like it it's going to take forever though

Stitchng over one
Hello all - I've recently starteed a new pattern that was too beautiful to resist. The instructions have different dimensions printed for each fabric (with 22 Hardanger being the smallest) but as the design is quite large, I tried to adapt it for a 32count linen. (Over one) I've stitched on 28 evenw...

I don't like how untidy it is where I started/ended, but I have cleaned it up a bit since taking...

I see those designs on the ross originals Australian website, and it provides phone numbers for overseas orders by country. Have you tried calling your local supplier?

Re: blanket stitch tips?
I've been working on the laat two cross stitch squares on the back, and I think I'm going to rip the heart out and try again, taking into account spacing, # of threads (maybe 4?)and tension. Will update with pictures

Re: blanket stitch tips?
Thanks for the replies! The fabric is fairly lightweight, but still has a bit of stiffness - it didn't bunch, but I was afraid of pulling the stitches too tight because they would go "under" the applique where I wanted it to provide a clean border, and as a result I think I left them too l...

This is the Dimensions Gold Collection Petites Holy NIGHT, I don't know if this is what you're looking for?
I found a Dimensions Crewelwork Holy Nativity kit from 1989 on Etsy, but that's obviously completely different.

blanket stitch tips? (updated)
http://i442.photobucket.com/albums/qq150/_lovesteph/20140913_125202.jpg I am always losing my needles, and decided to stitch up a quick needlebook. My grandma made me one out of scrap fabric when I was young, but I can't find it. :( My sewing skills are... not great, but I wanted to do something a ...

Re: hello from Toronto!
It is driving me a little crazy.... and I've done enough that if I were to rip it out, there'd be bigger holes? I think i started filling it in because it was my first (mostly) finished cross stitch and I grew up with needlepoint, where everything gets filled... and i felt like I had to fill fill fi...

The birds (decided to fill in the backgrounds with white, since I'm not crazy about unstitched areas on Aida) so spring is nearly finished, started winter, got bored, started summer  http://i442.photobucket.com/albums/qq150/_lovesteph/Mobile%20Uploads/20140831_130646.jpg This is the book cover....

Re: hello from Toronto!
Carole, what first got me started was a Dimensions kit that I picked up a couple years ago. I just pulled it out now to see if it had the name- it's of a house or cottage on the water, very colourful - and I just realized how "inexperienced" I was back then! I was using a hoop and an embro...

hello from Toronto!
Hello all, my name is Steph. I joined a week or so ago but haven't posted till now. I'm 23 and from Toronto ON, I started doing cross stitch about 2 years ago but only seriously got into it in the last month or so. I did needlepoint when I was a kid, but iI've never seemed to finish a project, save ...
