Re: Finished a small one...

Thanks for all the replies guys, really warms my heart :D Thing is, I want to be efficient! There are SO many things I want to stitch and I enjoy doing things faster and faster, being better and better. Stitching is not "fun" as in heart racing euphoria but I enjoy the feeling of gradually...

Finished a small one...

And still, it took me all-in-all 40 (forty!) hours from start to finish! Can you believe it? I must be a totally different kind of slow - am I missing something? For scale, it's about as large as my thumb, and I used two strands of floss which made it really thick and difficult to proceed with after...

Re: how did you start?

I shared my first needle with my mother when I was 12 and I've never laid it down since.

EDIT: I'm sure at least ten people must have used this joke in this thread ._.;

Dithering, huh? That's well above my pay grade! You need to talk to richardandtracy! He's been writing a truly wonderful bit of code here at about page 6, and especially here . You chaps have a lot in common -- I expect to sell lots of beer in the Stash & Grab. 8) Wow, that looks impressi...

Re: Not sure if this is the right forum - lessen pallette.

I'm sure your friend would love this. Did you chart it yourself? The reason I’m asking is because most designers have copyrights on their designs and so we can't have the chart fully posted on the forum. Of course, if it is your own design, you can post the chart without any problem. Naturally, you...

Re: How do you organize your floss?

I keep them all in a ball of neurosis, entangled and entwined so that any attempt to get a strand of a particular color longer than two centimeters (that's like.. I dunno, two hundred yards or three quarters of a few hundred pounds for you Americans ;p) is impossibly impossible and immediately makes...

Not sure if this is the right forum - lessen pallette.

So I want to make this one for a friend, but I think there are way too many colors. I've got a lot of dmc colors but not exactly fifty shades of light purple. Is there a way I can lessen the amount of shades (not making it boring and 4 colors that is). I'm no computer wiz and just "squaring&quo...

Re: My biggest project yet.

Hey guys! I've been away for a while (been under the weather, some of you might know how that can affect the whole "interacting with people"-thingy =P) Anyway, how are you doing? I've not been stiching it all during this period of absence but I did take a little time in order to have somet...

Re: My biggest project yet.

Looking great! I look forward to seeing your progress on the piece. As for lighting, I use a cool white daylight bulb in a regular gooseneck lamp. Mine is only 60W but throws off really bright light that is WHITE, not yellow, and didn't cost an arm and a leg to buy. I know there are better lightbul...

Video game stitches.

First of all I want to say, I hope this breaks no rules - I could not find that it did at least. If it does, feel free to remove it, move it or edit in a few expletives aimed at myself xD Anyway, I wanted my hobby of stitching to be have it's own Instagram, now that I stitch at least 8 hours a day s...

Re: My biggest project yet.

Thanks a bunch for the replies guys, makes me feel really happy and welcomed! =) Do you mean that you frame the entire piece prior to stitching? I guess it would make sense by stretching the cloth but I sometimes I have to do great pulls (well, coming under earlier stitches for a second time etc in ...

Re: My biggest project yet.

Thanks! Backstitches, that's what it's called? Thanks for clarifying =) I did some coloring when I ran out of black yarn and had to wait a few days for the mail =) I don't use a magnifying glass (I tried once but I couldn't really hold it while stitching and I ended up being so angry I almost ripped...

SC, that's cool, I've never been outside of Sweden, haha!

I like to do game based stitches. I used to play a lot of video games growing up and the pixels represent a stitch very well so it looks cool in my opinion :) What about you?

My biggest project yet.

... by far! I'm a very slow stitcher. I have pretty horrible eyesight and yet I use the finest cloth available. I also can't focus on doing one thing so I always watch TV-series or speak on the phone while stitching (thank you ADHD). Anyway, the small things that I've done before have only taken a f...

Hiyo~

Just registered! I'm a 30 year old Swedish guy. I used to do a little bit of crosstitching when I was 12, only for a week or so and then found my box of yarn again at 22 years of age. I did some Nintendo and Playstation inspired crosstitches for a few months. Now I found my box again after 8 years a...
