Re: Gryff: AKA Coontastic Gryffindor Update 1 Dec 2016

I love the progress you've made. I have a soft spot for giant ginger kitties.

I'm not sure I could have stuck with it. My eyes are crossing from the 28 ct. I'm working on and I have prescription reading glasses.

Have the leaves filled in around the border, and started working on the vine inside.

Re: I have the floss, pattern coming how would it look...

Because there isn't any back stitching, I think solid black is going to be the best bet.

I'll have to find another project to use a dyed fabric on. 8)

Is that fabric pre-gridded?

On a hand dyed fabric? I don't want to do it on solid black, but I do want something dark/nearly black.

Re: Holding pattern on frame

I have a wooden roller frame. I think a hair clip will work if I can find one laying around my house. I usually x-stitch on the couch, so it needs to be where I can see it. I like it to be right beside what I'm working on to prevent neck and eye strain.

Holding pattern on frame

I thought about asking a music teacher friend to get a clip on sheet music holder for me. None of the clips I have will hold the booklet to the frame. Frame+pattern is too wide for the clips I have.

Suggestions?

Anyone else doing Woodland Faerie? Updated progress

I'm going to JoAnn's today to get the rest of my supplies. I've had most of the floss for over 10 years. I'm sure some of it belonged to the Castle that was lost in one of my moves.

Marking my spot for later!

Re: 2016 Deliveries and New Stash Acquisitions

In an effort to increase my stash, does anyone know of any floss sales going on? (Prefer online, if they can be ordered per skein and not a whole box) I saw on another thread that Joann's is getting ready to do a 4/$1, but I don't know when. I have to drive almost an hour to get to a Joann's, but I'...

Re: Gryff: AKA Coontastic Gryffindor Update 17 Nov 2016

That is a very plausible explanation as to why stitching often turns out darker than expected. JoAnn fabric stores here in the USA are about to have a DMC sale of 4 skeins for $1 USD so I'll happily chip in some stitching patches and/or skeins. WHEN? PM me if you want. You can't order it individual...

Anyone else stitch "backwards"?

My mom is left handed, and I am not, so I stitch \ this leg first and then this one /. I basically learned how to do everything backwards. I tie my shoes like a lefty (there is a difference!), I iron on the wrong side of the ironing board, hold my broom backwards, etc. I am pretty comfortable using ...

Re: 2016 Deliveries and New Stash Acquisitions

I should have stuff waiting on me when I get home today. :whoop: I've spent the last few days organizing all the floss I have and figuring out what else I need. (I have a bobbin winder I've had since the late 80's, and it's missing the peg, so I've figured out how to fold and stuff a skein b...

Re: Confessions of a Cross Stitcher

1. I can only work on one project at a time. Seriously, starting another pattern before the one I'm working on is finished produces a psychotic reaction. 2. I don't give a rat's tushie what the back of my project looks like. I'll always choose to travel if the space I'm traveling across is shorter ...

If you are a fan of the Waterhouse designs, sites like Scarlet Quince and Cross Stitch Collectibles are worth a look.

Scarlet Quince has this very one!

Thanks!

Re: Hi there!

My daughter is not much of a crafty person. She can sew and knows the basics of knitting, and is a fairly talented artist when she takes the time. Her words: "I can draw it if I can see it, but I can't 'create' something from my imagination." And, I doubt she would like the tedium of cross...

If I wanted something charted?

I see there's a member who does charting? There's a particular Waterhouse painting (Soul of the Rose) I have always wanted to xstitch, but I have been unable to find a pattern. I also don't want to learn a new software program, or spend the money on one. :P https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/origi...
