Re: 2017 Mini Projects

Just got started on the bluebird hoop for my mom -- still consider this a mini-project, I think. It'll be about 4"x4". Eventually! My kid has kept me fully employed as a taxi driver after work lately so I haven't had much time to work on this, but here's my progress after about 3 or 4 days...

Re: 2017 Mini Projects

:applesauce: :applesauce: that bluebird fits the cap perfectly! Your mom will love it! Looking forward to seeing what you will be doing next, whether it is the larger bluebird or another lid. There is definitely satisfaction to be had from mini projects! Carole  I'm working on the western bl...

Re: 2017 Deliveries & New Stash Acquisitions

I got a $50 gift card from my boss for Administrative Professionals Day last week. Coincidentally, I have about $35 in my wish list/cart at Stoney Creek (the celtic trolley needle, a needleminder, and a pattern). Gosh... think I can find another $15 worth of stuff there? Can't wait to go shop...

Re: 2017 Mini Projects

Whipped this one together over the weekend. Carole -- the bluebird one that you gave me won't fit on a jar lid unless I want my eyes to bleed, so I'm going to use a hoop to frame that one and use 32 ct lugana. I started it last night & will take a picture after I work on it some more tonight (no...

Re: Thread length

I don't know, I just pull the thread from the skein.... I'd estimate about the same as others here, maybe 18"? Somewhere between 12-18" I'll say.

Re: 2017 Mini Projects

Speaking as a cat owned lady, that is a perfectly wonderful jar lid! I'm sure your mom's friend will love it. Looking forward to your next projects with a special interest in the bluebird  Carole  I've decided I'm going to do beads for the stamen tips, and not french knots. I've never ...

Re: 2017 Mini Projects

As you guys probably know, I make a ton of stitched, puffy mason jar lids. This one is one my mom asked me to make for a friend of hers she's known since grade school. I guess she's a cat lady. :) I can't say this was my favorite thing to stitch - too many browns. I used 3 strands and probably shoul...

Wow - beautiful finish & framing, and congrats on 1st place!! :applesauce: :applesauce: Edit: also, thanks for being an enabler. I have never seen that website before & now I'm the owner of this design as well! It looks really fun to work on. I may go back & buy the small mandalas ...

Re: How do I tackle this piece......

I haven't done a HAED (yet - I've got a few stashed to start later), but when I have a large piece of fabric I still use a hoop but roll the excess fabric up and use a hair clip to hold it (one of those prong looking ones). It holds it lightly. It's still a bit cumbersome but it's not too bad. I als...

Re: 2017 Deliveries & New Stash Acquisitions

Great stash! I have stitched quite a few Cross Wing Collections and they are all beautiful and so lifelike! I just sent some bluebird charts to a member. The hardest part (if I remember correctly) was making the working copies of the charts. Can't wait to see your heron come alive, as well as the o...

Re: Serindë's Stitching Adventures UPDATE 8 MAR 2017

 Not quite the right smiley for this, I was trying to find one where the jaw was dropped due to Serinde's beautiful stitching. Maybe  ? Either way, that is beautiful. I haven't yet tried adding embellishments to my work but I might try, based on how gorgeous your pieces are.

Re: Finished Frog

I have some charts I stitched a long time ago which are Bluebirds of Happiness from the Crossed Wing Collection. Some should be about the right size. No blended threads but plenty of backstitch and fractionals. If you are interested, pm me your address. I will be glad to send them to you. I don't p...

Re: Finished Frog

Thanks, everybody! :D I was so happy to have finished it, so I could start something new. So last night I spent about an hour going through all my stash, looking for a new project, something that's NOT a jar. I have that Dimensions pattern of flowers inside mason jars so I thought I'd do that. I cut...

Finished Frog

I finish my jar lids every week but rarely post pictures because I hate photobucket. :) But this one... I am so relieved to have finished it. A friend wanted a jar for her mom with a frog on it. There are a zillion mistakes in this but thankfully I think I covered most of them up with on-the-spur ba...
