Re: Had a tiny bit of Snow..

Had several inches overnight & more during the day which came in flurries. Jet went out for a comfort break, chased a few birds & also some flakes but when it came down heavier he tore down the garden & back indoors for food refuelling & a good long sleep. Flurry lasted a short time ...

Re: OT. Village life changing

What a shame there are less green fields where you grew up Wendy, must have been very disappointing for you to say the least. Can't imagine what it was like to see the 3 places merged into one urban sprawl. Mabel, your mother-in-laws area sounds lovely. Many older people where we live do the same, s...

Re: Finished Sweater

I've ordered a green one, the company Eastman Staples on had that or red. Other companies had different colours. One had a mauvey pink. Several different companies selling them, one company charged 60p. plus postage! That had mixed reviews, but the one I bought has good reviews & 4 stars. Better...

Re: Finished Sweater

So kind of you to post that pic Linda. Thank you. I looked on Amazon earlier this afternoon & saw one like that only in red. costs £2.49 inc. postage so a bargain. I saved the page & was going to ask you if it was similar to yours. Had good reviews. Some were cheaper & obviously not goo...

Re: Finished Sweater

Never heard of an electronic row counter before. What a great idea. Only know the ones you twist round end of each row but I used to forget to do so so still never knew how many rows I'd done until I counted them myself.

Re: Anyone else feel it?

Wow, that was a shock to have that happen to your brickwork. Luckily we only had shaking bed in that time. I thought I'd had a bad dream & was trembling until I realised whole bed was shaking. DH snoring away knew nothing. A friend of mine in Birmingham thought her husband had fallen out of bed ...

Didn't originally think you'd feel it in Bristol Lulu but later in the evening when reading an Internet article I saw a graph of where shocks went & was amazed how far they spread.

Re: OT. Village life changing

Lulu, amazing how different the new area must be. Must have been a weird sensation not knowing how to get out of the maze of new streets.

Sally, DH & I recently saw Melbourne for a few minutes on TV. Can't remember what for but we both said how lovely it looks there.

Re: Should I wash Aida before I star stitching?

Hello & welcome to this forum from Northern Wales  I look forward to seeing what you stitch. You have details correct except for one thing. After stitched Aida has been gently washed & dried flat until damp, put project with right side on a towel or piece of flat fabric to iron it so t...

Re: OT. Village life changing

Can understand no daily transport Richard. In the mountains there are farms along dirt only single track ways & they are nowhere near a bus service. They go to closest town every so often in their Land Rovers for groceries. Even some only 3 or 4 miles out from a main town only have school buses e...

Anyone else feel it?

Just found out I was right, the earth did move about 2.30 pm!!. Quake in Swansea. Felt right up to Liverpool where group of geologists were attending conference about continental plates drifting! I felt back of wooden upright chair wobble into my back a few times, stopped a couple of seconds & a...

OT. Village life changing

Today is very cold but sunny & bright & we decided to go to a village/small town we have not been to for a few years. My friend left there 3 or 4 years ago to move south nearer to her son & family. How surprised we were at how many shops & businesses have closed. These include 4 Bank...
