Re: Sew & So closed!!!!!
Gah! I was right with my F&W Media thread in March then. https://www.crossstitchforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=31595 The weaving and spinning magazines owned by the same company have been bought from the buyer of Interweave by the former editor, so I was hoping sewandso would have found a buy...
Re: F&W Media
Likewise Sew and So is my go to shop for cross stitching supplies so I'm also keeping fingers crossed.
F&W Media
F&W Media in the US have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, F&W Media International own Sew and So. I'm not sure if this will have an effect on the UK side of the business or whether the parent company will find a buyer. https://www.sewandso.co.uk/whoarefw" target="_blank But anyway ...

Re: Cross stitch on UK tv 28th March
Most pregnant women would look at a 1 in 20 risk with horror and avoid as a result. Risks include Orf virus and anthrax. Tetanus jabs should also be up to date. It's not that you can't touch raw fleece or indeed work with raw fleece (I know spinners who spin 'in the grease') just that you should abs...

Re: Cross stitch on UK tv 28th March
I quite enjoyed last nights programme, neither craft interests me but I enjoyed the silence and sound of crafting. Though I was yelling at the tv when they were working with raw fleece and ignoring the health and safety aspects. I can only assume the fleece had actually been washed and was not "...

Re: Helbel's WIPs
Thanks! I discovered yesterday as I was backstitching round the wing joint that there were about five dark green stitches, checked the chart - yes dark green, checked the picture - didn't look to be any green. Checked the TW site for errata, nothing listed, checked the Janlynn page but the kit is so...

Re: Where has everyone gone?
Thank you! Lovely to 'see' you again. Have made a new thread in SAL, can't quite get my iPad photos to upload the right way up but have stuck a link in for the TW so you can see it properly.Mabel Figworthy wrote:Looking forward to seeing the TW sampler again.

Helbel's WIPs
I used to have threads for each one, but I think a fresh start is warranted. I have three WIPs on the go, a TW Fantasy Sampler where all I have left to do is the backstitching and speciality stitches. I've been working on this one for nearly twenty years now. https://flic.kr/p/22L819i Second is Full...

Re: Pako thread organiser
I keep it in a bacon box! i.e. A Tupperware or similar box for storing bacon in. It keeps the needles safe from the cat and stops it getting tangled.
I love the organiser, it's essential for big projects and having lots of threads all ready to go means I do pick up that project more frequently.

Re: Where has everyone gone?
<shuffles in> Sorry, I've been AWOL I think for about seven years. Lovely to see lots of names I recognise still. Basically I learned to weave and discovered Ravelry. And then I learned to crochet. And then I learned to spin. Plus adopting Cat 1 and after she died, Cat 2, means I have very little t...

Re: Off to London!
I went on Saturday, massive train problems meant I was over an hour late meeting my friends - but they had had to queue to get in at around 11:30! Thought that the cross stitch stuff had decreased again for another year, very few stalls selling thread. Sewing was up this year - maybe an effect of th...

Re: OT for the Brits
If I just fly a big American flag out the window of the car will everyone just get out of my way? Sadly no. Not unless we get reciprocal rights flying a British flag when in the USA :) Now, if I can keep from getting hit when I cross the road... In London in the tourist areas there are road marking...

Re: Pattern Making Programs

Very sorry to see this. It's awful to lose a pet, they give us so much and life seems so empty without them.
