Re: Happy Birthday, frankattleborough
Thank you to everybody. Haven't been around much as have been looking after my Lady Friend. She has had two strokes then a bad fall where she broke her hip. They then prescribed Calcium which caused a big problem. A word of warning to everybody who is prescribed this, it can cause delirium which hap...

Happy Birthday to me as well
I am back into circulation so I thought I would post as the newbie did. I have been inactive for some while as I spent some time late last year in hospital and with carers coming in afterwards. Nothing very serious though, and I was having blood tests almost every day with a transfusion at the end. ...

Re: Substitution question
Anchor reflecta thread is one of their metallic range. I looked it up on my search engine and it shows it on e-bay(not a site I use). It is a gold colour, so all can suggest is that you put it into your search engine as reflecta threads and you should come up with the same results I saw.

Pictures from the gallery
It may be easy to do, but how do I get pictures from my gallery into a posting? A step by step instruction would help this old man!!

Re: Total eclipse
I took photos of the one in 1999 here in the UK. I followed the advice given in Practical Photography magazine and got some good shots. I took pictures of a moon's eclipse some years earlier which also came out very well, we were in a pub at the time and as I kept going out past the DJ he asked my w...

That is going to take a long time to do but it will be well worth it in the end. But what is time for someone so young and beautiful!!!

Re: Radio Caroline
I listened to Radio Caroline a lot in it's day as well as Radio Luxembourg. It was the only way to hear the 'Pop' songs of the day. These stations eventually forced BBC's hand into Radio 1, but then Richard I am obviously much older than you.

Re: Tiger in the snow
Thank you for doing that for me Nicola. Am I right that you took if from my gallery? For future reference what did you do to get it there? And do I take it that you don't have to go through the photobucket website now?
Its a big hug from me anyway.

Re: Tiger in the snow
Surely there must be a better way of posting pictures on here. I tried and failed with my latest xstitch and got the wrong picture altogether. Photobucket is a BIG pain with all of the adverts which keep popping up which is probably why the wrong picture got posted. I still haven't found how to get ...

Re: Hi from a newbie
I too love the kingfisher, I did one some years ago but that was a tapestry. I can probably claim to be the oldest stitcher on the site (if I'm not then someone will correct me. I am in my 84th year now).
A very good welcome to you by the way.

Re: Tenth Anniversary Awards
For me it is definitely the forum. When I was left on my own, 9 years ago this Christmas Day, it was shortly after that when I found the forum. The people on here are amazing and couldn't have been more helpful to me in those early dark days. I hope I have in my turn given a little back. I have made...

Re: The adoration of the kings - 17th Dec
You may know that I have been AWOL for some while. Some people think that my stitching is good, but I bow my head to an obvious master, or should that be mistress. This is absolutely stunning!
Christmas
I would just like to wish a very Happy Christmas to all of my friends out there. :D I have had a not very good time in the past 3 weeks having been quite unwell but am feeling much better now. I have started on another major project this one is called 'Tiger in the Snow' and should take about a year...

Re: Rule-of-Thumb for using Beads:
I invariably use beads where the pattern calls for french knots as I am useless at them! But having said that if you think beads will make something look better then by all means use them, it is down to personal taste, like everything else in cross stitch, there are no hard and fast rules to anything.

Re: Jig Saw Puzzles.
I have just started back into doing jig-saws and there are lots of people in this area who do them. I confine myself to 500 piece ones as space is limited. When I have finished one I usually take it to one of the charity shops and get another, there are a lot of them which circulate around. I find t...
