Coolpenguin

Hi All, I haven't posted on here in quite a while but wanted to come on and give you some news. Coolpenguin is a stitcher in the forum that is also a friend of mine from high school IRL. Yesterday she lost her long battle with cancer. I know her positive spirit and kind soul will be missed here as i...

Re: Chatelaine Sparkly Hummingbird Mandala - FINISHED 02/07

So I know it has been forever since I've been on the forum. I have had a lot of life changes in the last couple of years (laid off, went back to school, finished my degree, relocated to a new city) and currently I am working 2 jobs so I don't have much time to stitch, let alone log in and chat about...

Re: Been Away For a Bit…..

Thanks everyone for the kind words about my Chatelaine! I am really enjoying it, and am just in awe of you stitchers (Mrs. MBK!!!) who have completed more than one!!! ( I always thought Baltimore was in the South... ) :thinks: Baltimore is actually smack-dab in the middle of the east coast. Technica...

Re: Been Away For a Bit…..

Thanks, y'all! (I am practicing my southern-isms  ) Since I am staying with my mom till I find an apartment, I only brought a couple of stitching projects with me for now. All the rest of my stash is boxed up in Baltimore. (It took a RIDICULOUS amount of boxes!) Hopefully this means I will...

Been Away For a Bit…..

It's been awhile since I have checked in on the forum. I have had some major life changes so have not had too much time to stitch or to post on the forum. Some of you may know I lost my job 2 1/2 years ago, and I decided to use that as an opportunity to go back to school and finish my degree. I grad...

Re: Portable Lighting

I've got one of those too. Mine does have a magnifying glass bit but you can bend it out of the way if you don't want to use it. http://www.amazon.com/Mighty-Bright-Vusion-Craft-Light/dp/B002768HT6 Flo I have the same one, and I love it! It clips nicely on hoops, q-snaps, or scroll frames, and both...

Re: Koko's Projects - 2013 - Updated Apr 25

I haven't been around much lately, "real life" has been getting in the way of my stitching over the past few months :) I just finished up with school and graduated in May, and have been searching for a job. I haven't had too much luck with that, I did get a part-time job, but I am still lo...

Re: Flying with stitching?

I bought a pair of children's scissors with rounded tips so that I could take my stitching on flights, and I have never had a problem getting them through security. I've been on a number of flights with no issues. I usually just check my embroidery scissors.

Re: What do you do with your silk threads?

I think I posted this in another thread as well, but I bobbinate all of my silks and specialty threads and keep them in boxes just like my DMC threads. On the top of the bobbin I write the brand (or abbreviation for the brand) and the color number, and I have a spreadsheet that lists both the color ...

Re: Cross stitching ornaments

A couple of years ago I made ornaments for everyone in my family, and I just did small pieces of fabric, but that was mostly because I was trying to use all my leftover pieces from other projects. It was also a nice change for me because most of the other pieces I was working on at the time were ver...

I love this project, it's so unique! Just wondering :) I...

Oh, this should be fun to see what we've all learned from the enablers on this forum!!   Let's see, before I joined 4 years ago, I mostly stitched kits, or patterns out of books I got at Michael's. I only stitched on Aida, and only used DMC or whatever came in the kits. I never did a...
