Re: Which way do you stitch?

I'm the same as the original poster. I think we're a minority, but it really doesn't matter as long as all your stitches in a project are going the same way.

Waste Canvas Question!

So I decided to try a project with waste canvas. I picked the pattern, bought the t-shirt, the 10 count waste canvas, size 20 needles, and the floss. I looked up some instructions online, basted the canvas to the shirt, got ready with all my stuff and sat down to get started... Then I had no idea HO...

Re: Clubs

I just joined a couple of cross stitch Yahoogroups, but they're extremely chatty and go off topic a lot. It's overwhelming to have all that in your email. I like this group a lot better.

Re: Stitchers Count Down to Christmas/New Years

I've finished my mom's Christmas present and two cards. I'm in the middle of my niece's present and I'm beginning to worry it won't be done in time. I took this to be a "pretty easy" chart when I first saw it but now that I'm into it I realize there's a lot of fractional stitches and some ...

Re: New Kitten

My husband got bitten by a feral kitten once and they made him get a rabies shot. However, 9 years later we have that kitten and all is well (and he's the SWEETEST most people-loving cat you'd ever want to meet in your life!) Nani reminds me of one of my other cats, Hitchcock, who was a tiny little ...

A back issue of Cross Stitcher I bought on ebay. Also a few days ago I got BHG's 2001 Cross Stitch Designs. Another ebay deal. :D

Re: St Cross Stitcher's Ward

I love cats but they do cause injuries sometimes! Does your friend like cats? If she does that probably makes this easier, but if she's one of those people who doesn't like cats - oh I can just imagine how awkward this is!

U.S. Magazine Recommendations?

I like the UK cross stitch magazines, but they're so expensive here in the U.S., I was wondering which of the U.S. ones are good? I've glanced at Just Cross Stitch and am not that impressed (though I love the house on the cover of the current issue.) I'm not sure what other US mags I've looked at, b...

Wow, you're a newlywed! I've been married for almost 20 years (that makes me feel old!) I'm a cat person too, I've got four of them.

Re: Forum Bio's

I just found this too. :) I'm new so I don't have many dislikes, and a lot of I'd like to try its! Colours - I really don't care, I like them all! Fabric - Never used anything above 18 count - but I'm not ready for evenweave or linen yet. Prefer 18 over 14 usually. Plastic canvas is good, wanting to...

Re: Backstitch tip

I did a lot of backstitch on my current project last night and it made feel a lot better about the progress I'm making. I hate the idea of finishing all the regular stitches then being faced with ALL that backstitch all at once.

Re: Mini projects

I just recently finally figured out what a biscornu is! And Mabel I love that card! I bought some perforated plastic awhile back with no idea what to do with it, then I finally found a cute tiny thing I wanted to stitch and realized the plastic would be good for a magnet. http://img697.imageshack.us...

I want to see Wicked someday too! I've been lucky enough to have two of my big favorite musicals come to my smaller city, Jesus Christ Superstar and Cats. I hope eventually Wicked comes here.

Re: Off to shop for stash on a Sunday morning

Beautiful weather for a drive today, and between the coupon and sales I got $40 worth of merchandise for $26. I bought some notions and two TINY kits, and I finally satisfied a curiosity and bought one of the UK cross stitch magazines. They are SO expensive when you live in the U.S., but with the co...

Off to shop for stash on a Sunday morning

I haven't been stash shopping in a while nor even ordered online, but today I'm up early, it's bright and sunny and I'm off to Joann. AND I have coupons. :P

Re: Unwanted knots

Pull the loop of the knot to make it bigger and easier to unpick. or Hold the threads and pull the threads sharply to get the knot to disappear. I do these two things together. That is, pull the loop (horizontally) to make it bigger, then grab the threads and pull and the knot will just magically c...
