Re: How do you organize you left-over floss from kits??

If I have any floss leftover from any kits and I don't know the origin of it I throw it out. I don't want to mix that in with my DMC.

Re: Help - what brand of hoop should I buy?

I highly recommend q-snaps. You only need an 8x8" and don't forget to add a "hugger" those little fabric stretchy things that hold in the excess fabric and keep it clean. Not sure what they are called they have different names. I just found out it's called a "grime guard" an...

Re: How do you organize your floss? (sorry long post)

First I want to say I am happy when people find what works for them. EG. The popularity of bobbins and Stitchbows. I must say I tried them very briefly and have never liked the Stitchbows. Well I have an update on what I have done with my DMC. I had the Annie's keepers and that was working very well...

Re: Angel Proclamation (5 Dec 2013)

If I ever do this one I am going to leave the ribbon off. But I think it is supposed to represent kind of a May pole and the angels are dancing around it? This is what I think, but without the ribbon it still looks good and it just looks like the angels are dancing.

Re: Angel Proclamation (5 Dec 2013)

I have to add to my previous comment: When I looked in my TW book I realized that that pattern is "Angel Procession" and you are stitching "Angel Proclamation" which is not even Teresa Wentzler it is Mirabilia (my bad  :bandaid: ). Well don't you have the pattern anymore? He...

Re: Angel Proclamation (5 Dec 2013)

That is beautiful. It's on my wish I could do this in my lifetime but I keep buying HAEDs list  . Anyway it's beautiful and the beading looks really nice. One will never know you were nervous in putting in the beads. As for the ribbon. Doesn't the pattern say how to "install" the ribb...

Re: Dimensions Gold Collection

I echo everyone here in saying to have a close look at the pattern to see what you will be dealing with. Make a working copy to preserve your originals. Remember it's all cross stitch! I find back stitching is not so tedious when I do it as I go along. Nothing worse than finishing a whole piece and ...

Re: Questions for Chatelaine Designs fans

Thanks for that tip about getting the pdf files. I am about to order a kit or two and I was choosing the chart format, I am going to change that now to pdfs. I have so many of these patterns that I want to do I just need to keep restraint and only get what I can afford. Here's another question...

Re: My first HEAD

First, why do people worry/care about what the back looks like? You never see it once it's framed? Second use the waste knot method to start and end your stitches. Here are two EXCELLENT videos demonstrating this and parking threads and it looks like she is also stitching 28 over 1 with 1 thread: ht...

Re: Threads?

This is exactly why I hate kits. The matter of running out of threads and that they always come with 14count Aida and I never use that anymore. It looks so hugh to me now. Even though I can't see very well I use 1 over 25ct or 1 over 28 count or 2 over 18 count Aida. I use mag eyes along with my rea...

Re: How do you organize your floss?

The thing I did like about the bobbins was that you could see all the colors really well and it looked really nice when they were all neatly in the boxes showing off the beautiful colors. Until the box falls down and they go flying everywhere! I won't miss that. That was just happening too oft...

Man! I WISH I could do 28ct over 1 without my magnifying glass AND reading glasses. I am far sighted. Ever since I started wearing reading glasses my vision is getting WORSE! What a drag.
I'm glad for you that yours got BETTER.

Re: Framing Question - Hanging in a Bathroom

I did one for my mum and it's been hanging in her basement bathroom for at least 20 years and no problem. You could also ask the framers what they would recommend (either at a framing place or Michael's also does framing).

Re: Do you stitch in Rotation?

I have about 25 different projects. Large, small, kits, non-kits. I am stitching by a loose rotation. That is, I stitch as long as I want on one project, then start the next one. I have a box they are all in and they are all in separate clear bags. I use a master set of dmc (on bobbins at the moment...

Re: Pre-gridded fabrics

Well thanks everyone for all that information. I think I will hold off on getting any for now. I have the blue washable quilting pen and I am using that to "grid as I go" in my 25ct (don't know what company) evenweave and I might also pick up that new red "gridding thread" that n...

I agree that if you sewed some scrap fabric around the outer edges it will then fit better into a hoop or better yet a qsnap.

Pre-gridded fabrics

Can anyone chime in with their opinion on pre-gridded fabrics. Is DMC the only company that makes them? I just looked on their site and the 14ct and 18ct fabrics had a thin line for the grid but the 25ct fabric looked in the picture like it had a fatter line. I wonder why the higher count has a fatt...
