Re: What's on your wish list?

Yeah, I have so much stuff to stitch that my wish list is mostly very distant wishes. One thing I keep looking at is the Lanarte Butterfly Girl http://www.123stitch.com/item/Lanarte-Butterfly-Girl-Cross-Stitch-Kit/LAN-0145978" target="_blank But I probably won't buy it because it's only av...

Re: I Hate My Stash, Round 4

Weirdly, I think I might already have some candy corn buttons. I don't know if they will be the right size, but I definitely have something candy corn in with my bead collection. I've always liked Halloween stuff, so I've got a bunch of little Halloween things like that. Or maybe I'll stitch some li...

Re: I Hate My Stash, Round 4

Any chance the Carriage Gate and Cabernet and Red Grapes charts from the Houses/Cottages/Gardens sections are still available? I love the garden gate in particular but the grapes are also beautiful. This giveaway is so nice of you. Some of these charts are so wonderful it's hard to imagine you parti...

Re: "I Love to Stitch ...."

Found it! Or at least the magazine and designer and stuff... It's the Sept 2002 Issue of Crazy For Cross Stitch. The pattern is called Crazy About Crafts by Felicia Williams. The magazine looks like it would be easy to get, or someone might have it here. I found this link for verification purposes. ...

Re: "I Love to Stitch ...."

Ok, still looking but I found a slightly larger version that suggests it came out of a magazine, specifically page 33 of a Sept magazine in 2002. That's a start. I don't get magazines personally, but I will try to narrow it down more...

Re: Enlarging a project

Or a much easier way, print a copy much bigger and then use a ruler and pencil to add new grid lines? if you use a sharp pencil it should be easy to see the symbols even with lines going through them and it cuts out the chance of transcribing the pattern incorrectly.

Re: What do you do when you need to take a break?

I keep a collection of little ornament sized things for the times where I need a break from my big project. My current project is a huge "I need a break" sort of thing because it's got a bunch of backstitching in metallics. I don't mind backstitching, but those metallics feel awful in my f...

Re: New to cross stitiching, I have a pretty optimistic proj

That's a pretty good project although I agree with others that finishing it by Christmas might be overly optimistic. And remember, there aren't many hard rules in cross stitch, but make sure all your stitches go the same way or anything you stitch will look really messy. That means the stitch on the...

Re: Treasures From The Heart

Well there is one on ebay UK with no bids but it asks for UK bidders only. Perhaps you could message the seller and ask for an exception if you aren't located there? I've found reaching out can get really happy results. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TREASURES-FROM-THE-HEART-COUNTING-CROSS-STITCH-CHART-E...

Re: looking for source on copyrighted pattern

Well that took a ton of open tabs and a dozen search strings but I've got a source for you. Not understanding french made the search a bit harder than it would have been otherwise. That design is by Corinne Thulmeaux. Here is her blog. http://passionbrode77.canalblog.com/" target="_blank&q...

Re: I have to ask... Why grid?

I'm a cross country stitcher with a preference for projects that aren't full coverage. I like the texture changes from stitched to unstitched. I tried gridding a few times because I would hate to skip a technique that might make stitching better for me but it didn't really do anything for me. I trie...

Well it wasn't quite 9 straight hours. The artist took 15 minutes for lunch and I took two 5 minute bathroom breaks.

Re: OT Crazy Decision EDIT! Picture!

Well, overworking the skin into scarring isn't really a time-based issue so I didn't have to worry about that. Sometimes bleeding and swelling over long sessions can cause problems so that's something to consider but my artist was nice about working in a way that didn't make that too much of an issu...

Re: OT Crazy Decision

Well, I got my tattoo! The sketch I saw on the day of my appointment was perfect and the only suggestions I made were color choices that were pretty much what she was thinking anyway. I don't know any way in which I could adore it more. Here's a picture of it! http://i791.photobucket.com/albums/yy19...

OT Crazy Decision EDIT! Picture!

I have, on very short notice, decided to stop being a non-tattooed person and have decided to become a tattooed person. I didn't think it would happen but the one artist I wanted to tattoo me (who usually has a very long waiting list) answered an email asking about her current waiting list length wi...

Re: The CF, No-Rationalization, Stitch-From-Stash Challenge

I probably should skip this. The only money I've spent on cross stitching this year was the postage for one manilla envelope to send a chart to someone else and that's unlikely to change for the rest of the year because I love my stash just how it is. I achieve more satisfaction from removing things...

Happy forumversary. I love the House Mouse designs (haven't even started the one I got after seeing yours, but I'm intrigued by a design called frog pile. Is it what it sounds like? I hope you'll check in at least occasionally. There is a whole new book of House Mouse designs that came out recently...
