Re: Need to rant

I would be crushed if someone said that to me! I lost my fertility due to cancer 5 and a half years ago. I was 28 at the time. Now I'm in my 30's and people ask if I have kids. I say no, I have animals instead. One person kinda pushed the issue and said that I really needed to work on having childre...

Re: I need help deciding which alphabet!

I already changed the color of the lettering to the lighter shade of blue. Originally the pattern called for it to be the same shade as the heart. I'm worried about having too many shades of blue in there too. :thinks:

I need help deciding which alphabet!

I REALLY need some input/advice/guidance/help! I am working on a soldier's memorial to send to a fallen soldier's mother. I have the memorial part done, but now I need to add his information. And I am awful when it comes to designing things! All I've done over the last 3 days is graph letters and fu...

Re: Places to buy hand-dyed/sparkling fabric

I use Picture This Plus as well. I've been extremely happy with the service. I'm in their Fabric of the month club, and I usually receive my order within the week of payment being sent.

Online alphabet?

I thought someone once posted a site that would computer generate an alaphabet on a graph for stitching. If I recall correctly there were different types of letting one could choose from too. I'm having a heck of a time properly spacing writing that I need to add to a piece and wanted to see how the...

Thank you! I thought it has something to do with that, but didn't know if what I had was the thicker or the thinned of the 2. :D

Kreinik #4 & 8...what's the difference?

I have a pattern that calls for #4 braid to be used for gold stars. But I only have #8 on hand. What's the difference between the 2, and would it be ok to substitute what I have for what's on the pattern?

Re: How do you organize your floss?

Carolann, I had the same problem. I've ditched the bows and now slide the skein in the pocket just the way it comes from the store. It does take a bit more patience because I have to use a pen to open the pocket up, then slide in the skein. Sometimes I have to use the end of the pen (non-ink end) to...

Re: Is 7 years old too young to learn cross stitch?

I have a 7 year old nephew that wants to learn as well. We've tried both printed and learning counted kits. He's having problems relating the pattern to the fabric. So now I'm swapping out the fabric for perforated paper and I'm going to use a marker to spot where each color goes. Kinda like a stitc...

Good idea for a 7 year old?

I have a 7 year old nephew that really really really wants to cross stitch. I've found a number of problems with the kits I've been able to find though. 1. most are geared toward little girls. 2. The printed ones have extremely sharp needles...and he's known for "dropping" and "losing...

Oh, that's a wonderful idea!! The Precious Moments pieces aren't that large, so I don't see why I couldn't have them both. Thank you!!

Re: Running out of room on fabric

Use another piece of the same fabric and lay it under the current piece of fabric. Begin stitching over both pieces. These stitches will secure the added piece to the larger, already stitched, piece. Then just stitch as you normally would. There may be a bit of a seam when the larger piece runs out,...

Re: Which to stitch?

Thank you for your insight Angel. I'd like to ask my sister which one she'd like, but I'm doing this as a surprise. I'd like to give it to them on the day the adoption is finalized. Here is the poem in its entirety: Once there were two women who never knew each other, One - you do not remember, the ...

Which to stitch?

I can't decide which poem to stitch. My sister and her husband will hopefully be adopting their foster daughter in the next 6 months. We won't know for sure until the end of next month. In the meantime I'm putting some things together to stitch a little piece for her. I was considering one of the fo...

Forgive me, but how old is he now? I think providing him with condoms would be a step in the right direction. Lets face it, kids, while they want to have sex, aren't always up to walking into the store and buying them themselves. Its not a way to condone his activity, its a way to keep him out of tr...

Re: Suggestions for Storing Floss

I use the stitch bow system without the holders. Basically I put the skein in the plastic sheets the way it comes from the store. I use a pen to open the pocket up. That makes sliding the skein in easier. Sometimes I have to use the pen against (not the ink side) to pull them out without losing the ...

Re: Fabric/Thread Clubs Anyone?

I'm on a monthly fabric thing and while I love getting something new every month...I've already hit that wall of realizing I won't use all of the fabric I'm receiving. I'm not sure how I feel about the count I picked, or that fact that I went with a crystal fabric. I'd like to see a club t...
