Re: What's the difference...

18 ct evenweave does exist, though it is a little more difficult to find. I believe it's called Davosa.

See here for an example, though I've never ordered it from this company. The few times I've used it I got it from my LNS.

Re: Block stitch or stitch as you go?

I love parking. :) There was a good discussion about it recently here . Give parking a try and don't forget that you can adapt it to fit your style. The only hard and fast rule I have with parking is that I always park my thread in the lower left corner of the next stitch in that colour. That's how ...

Re: Has the Postman brought you anything fun in 2014

Thank goodness I didn't sign up for the Stitch from Stash challenge. I'd be so far beyond budget it wouldn't be funny! :) I have had my first Chatelaine (Evening in the Park) kitted up for almost a year now. I will start it soonish. Despite that, I caved and bought a few more Chatelaine patterns. I ...

Re: Advice for buying a Cross Stitch Frame

I've tried no baste scroll frames but found the tension to be not as tight as I like. I like the tension on Q-snaps and have several sizes for many of my smaller projects. I find they are good for travelling. My ultimate favourite now though is the Millenium frame. Easy to secure fabric on and off, ...

Re: Making Friends with Parking

Congrats!! I adore parking. I too keep my needles all threaded so I can switch between them for individual stitches quickly. I've been able to handle 40-50 needles without much trouble. I do find that just letting them hang loosely can invite terrible tangles and the possibility of lost needles. I e...

http://www.nordicneedle.com/Merchant2/graphics/products/6817.jpg This is the type I use on the rare occasion I feel the need to use one. I've had mine for years too. I'm a Canadian and I shop in the US and the UK when I shop online. 123stitch.com is usually my go to site, but I tend to order hand-d...

Trylla's 2014 Projects

All of my old threads for these projects are deeply buried in the forum, so I though I'd start fresh. It is a new year after all. :) I have several projects on the go (some have been on the go for a few years now). Ciara Blue by Blackwork Journey Stitched over 2 on 32 ct white lugana using HDF silk ...

Re: Advice on parking!

I just couldn't wrap my head around cross-country stitching in 10 x 10 squares. I understand that it works, but in my mind, if I'm going to cross-country stitch, why park it when I can just finish the color. For me, the purpose of parking is to help deal with confetti. I never miss stitches when I'...

Re: Advice on parking!

I mostly follow the SQ guide … I generally stitch row by row, unless the same colour in the next row is beneath the stitches I just did. This makes it look like I'm cross country-ing more than I am. My only exception to this is if there is just one stitch under an empty space, I might stitch that ...

I've been MIA -- sorry

I've been gone for quite a few months. I'm sorry I just up and disappeared. Real life got very complicated and had to take precedence. In April my mom was diagnosed with cancer. She spent the summer going through chemo treatments. It was really hard on her. At the end of September, a week after her ...

Re: Advice on parking!

I'm a parker too. :) Though only on full coverage designs, like HAEDs. I read the parking guide on the Scarlet Quince site (linked on a previous post) and then tried it on a project that only had a few colours on that page. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zgU36-9lHsA/UDqRxaFSpHI/AAAAAAAABFc/Ms4lR4QXf8A/s1...

Took longer than I wanted, but another half page is complete on Drama Queen.

38,180 stitches or 49.42% complete or 7 pages (well, 6 and 2 half pages):
