Re: Scroll frames/lap frames---need some recommendations

I've been a spring hoop, hoop and scroll frame girl. Mostly I found handmade scrolls hold much tighter than anything available off a mass production line. But like another poster said, then I got a Millenium frame. Everything else pales in comparison. Drum tight tension, easy on and off for swapping...

Re: Cats

We've never been without at least one cat and one dog. But at one point when we lived on acreage we somehow ammassed 26 odd cats. There is such a thing as too many. We currently have 3: one was a stray, she's over 23 years old now, one was deliberatly rescued to live with me when I moved out but whe...

Re: Tapestry Needles

I'm a big Bohin fan.

Not so keen on John James - I've got acidic skin an seem to wear the shine off them very quickly.

Tried quite a few other brands but none stand out other than I've just tried DMC and found them value for money so far.

Re: Working on Big Projects One Page at a Time

It happens and it ruins projects when it does. I think it depends on how you stitch. For my part from one stitch session to the next my tension can differ significantly (I think it comes down to moods etc) ... so I try to finish areas each time. I definitely could not do a page at a time. But I don'...

It's the only type I use and I went ahead and bought a few after trying it out once. Now my Mum - a seamstress - is also hooked on them. 8}

Re: Disability!

I had a mental breakdown. Stitching has helped me to mend my broken brain and find some peace. It's also been a guiltless pleasure to carry me through and entertain me through unemployed periods when I'm totally broke (having kitted up projects in wait when I had an income). I'm so glad you have som...

Re: Your Stitching Style - Opinions and Advice

I stitch till I finish that length of thread taking the shortest rout possible, then I start on the next empty square and repeat. I use spring hoops for hardanger and small projects. I use scroll frames (loving the Millenium ... my other scrolls have seen their last I think) for my tapestry and bigg...

Re: Beading

I use beading nylon and do a half or full cross depending on the direction I want the bead to lay. I back stitch at the back just to hold them tight.
