Re: Tutorial - Finishing a Christmas stocking

Wow - thank you! I know I don't post as much as I used to (grad school has really cut into my stitchy time!), but it makes me so happy every time I see that this thread has a new message or has helped someone. My son Tristan is now 6 years old and his stocking is currently "hung by the ch...

Re: Tutorial - Finishing a Christmas stocking

Hi Dragica, I'm so glad you found the tutorial helpful! Both the stockings I've made have been on 14 count white Aida fabric. It's very durable and has a good weight to it. I use cotton fabric for the lining and have done both backings with red felt. You don't have to stick to cotton and felt, but t...

Re: 19Roland19's Starry Night with Tardis-Updated July 24/15

THIS IS AMAZING!!! I've been off for a while, and I'm so thrilled to see this piece! I'm an enormously nerdy Whovian, and I actually make hand painted Starry Night TARDIS jeans. Can't wait to see your progress. Best of luck - no more frogs!

Re: Tutorial - Finishing a Christmas stocking

Thanks so much! Congratulations on taking on the most nerve-wracking part - cutting it out! :) As far as backing, you can really use anything you want. I recommend a heavier fabric simply for durability's sake. I wouldn't recommend using just a plain quilting cotton since it's so much lighter than t...

Re: (Important Message pg 1 top) Christmas Ornament Exchange

Yay!!! So glad the ornament arrived and that you and your kitty approve. :) Lots of firsts for me, much like Shadyglade. First time on perforated paper, first time beading... So glad I joined the exchange and got the chance to try new things! Debby (fccs) was kind enough to snap a close up picture o...

Re: (Important Message pg 1 top) Christmas Ornament Exchange

My stitched ornament is in the mail! :whoop: (Although I just realized that in my rush to get it out, I completely forgot to take a picture of it for my craft album. I'm hoping my recipient will help me out by posting a pic when it arrives.) Haven't received an ornament yet, but it's fun having some...

Re: (sign up CLOSED) 2014 Christmas Ornament Exchange

I've also been running into challenges... this is what I get for experimenting with new techniques on an exchange! This weekend is my daughter's birthday, but my goal is to get it out there before Thanksgiving. :coffebreak: <--- me staring at chart like, "you want me to do WHAT?"

Re: UFO Club (1st to 7th of each month)

I finished my butterfly! I'm at the beach and I can't figure out how to post a pic from my phone, but I'll be sure to post when I get home. Thanks for giving me the inspiration I needed to much myself in the pants and finish this up after so long!
