Mrs Milkybar Kid finally stitches!

Hi Everyone! It's been such a long time since I have posted here that I have almost forgotten how to do it! I didn't really stitch "properly" for the longest time, over a year or so, but last month I finally picked up my stitching and worked on my WIPs and also incorporated a few new start...

Re: How to put a pattern on a tablet...?

I use GoodNotes on my iPad and have done for the last five years (although I stitch rarely these days!). For paper charts I just take a photo of the paper chart and import that to GoodNotes - much easier than faffing about with a scanner :D !

Re: Where has everyone gone?

Aside from a couple of hours on 1 January 2017, I haven't picked up a needle so far in 2017  ! Prior to that my stitching had been pretty erratic since Summer 2016 and I've been selling quite a bit of my stash. Can't really account for the change of heart after 6 years of comparative stitchin...

Re: Mrs Milkybar Kid's Stitching Updated 4 November 2016

Thank you ladies  ! For someone who confesses Not to stitch as much as she used too....you Certainly manage to produce many beautiful designs! There was a time I used to stitch most days - now I'm lucky if I pick up a needle once a fortnight for a couple of hours, which is why there will...

Re: Mrs Milkybar Kid's Stitching 2016 Cinders finished 28 Ju

I thought it was time I updated this thread with a few finishes that I have had over the last three months. First up, possibly one of the most stitched designs ever - Home of a Needleworker Too by LHN, I stitched mine on Vintage Country Mocha Edinburgh linen with my choice of Nina's hand dyed silks ...

Re: Chatelaine

I've stitched several Chatelaines including Butterfly Lace and they are gorgeous designs to stitch! There are ways of reducing the cost of them by using different threads, but the silks are gorgeous to work with  .

Re: Mrs Milkybar Kid's 2016 Stitching 19 June Hardanger

Very pleased to say that after only working on the same project for most of June and July, Cinderella by Joan Elliott is finished! https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8597/27988564224_c3c694d4aa.jpg I'm not a OAAT stitcher, but sometimes you have to be to get things done  . Re: Mrs Milkybar Kid's 2016 Stitching 25 May UPDATED

Just a small update this time as I am spending this month working on poor Cinders as she has been very neglected, so just two pieces of hardanger finished this month so far, Mabel's Round Six stitched with Anchor and Jodyri Designs perles: https://c4.staticflickr.com/8/7085/27141764043_0018fd7b1d.jp...

Re: Floss/ Hand dyed Substitutions

You can of course substitute any thread in a pattern - just means the end result will be different and unique :). As far as Caron Waterlilllies go, there are no direct conversions into DMC as Waterlillies are a variegated thread made up of different colours, or sometimes tones of the same colour whe...

Re: Mrs Milkybar Kid's 2016 Stitching 4 April UPDATED

Thank you ladies  ! I've only stitched on one piece so far this month which has resulted in a surprise finish! I started Berthe Massiet on 1 January and haven't picked her up since the middle of January but I enjoyed working on her so much that I just kept going. Here she is stitched on 40ct 1 ...

Re: Waxing already stitched thread?

I know of some stitchers that use Thread Heaven to coat every single strand of thread when working on their projects, but I've never found the need to do that! I use all sorts of different brands and types of cotton, silk and metallics in my work and have never found the need to use TH on any of the...

Re: Mrs Milkybar Kid's 2016 Stitching 2 March 2016

I thought I'd lost my stitchy bug for a few weeks - but it turned out that I was just stitching on the wrong type of projects! So instead of getting bogged down in blue on Cinderella's dress, I kitted up some smaller more fun (IMHO) charts from stash and these are the results: A freebie from Hands A...

Re: Chatelaine - HELP - stitch direction

I've stitched a fair few Chatelaines and Debby is right, all the crosses will lie the same way throughout the design. One thing I thought I would mention just in case, with a Chatelaine if you are starting from the centre and working out, it is helpful if you mark the top of your fabric in some way ...

Re: ? on Framing and Quaker cloth:

I usually go for a minimum of 3 inches all around for my framing/finishing allowance, sometimes more depending on the design and how I want to finish it. As for Quaker cloth, I've used it quite a bit and I love it! It's a Zweigart fabric so you know it's good quality and it is an cotton/linen mix, w...

Re: Mrs Milkybar Kid's 2016 Stitching QS Lady Bug Done!

I haven't had a lot of time for stitching lately and my mojo has waned a bit, but a few weeks ago I finished Flowers of the Field: https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1638/25147575865_cb20d79f60.jpg This morning I spent a very enjoyable few hours starting and finishing Mabel's next Round: https://farm2.s...

Re: Mrs Milkybar Kid's 2016 Stitching UPDATED 3 February

Thank you ladies  ! Wendy and Sally, unfortunately the lacing edging has nothing to do with my fabric but is down to the app I use to edit my photos :) . Finally a proper finish for the year, a HAED of all things, QS Lady Bug is done! https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1544/24500939629_054d636c7b.j...
