Re: Happy Forumversary mechie!!!

Aw, thanks y'all! Sorry I haven't been around much lately. Life has been getting in the way of stitching what with birthdays, school concerts, and up coming dance recitals. The girls are definitely keeping me busy! I hope to get more free time soon. I miss all y'all!

Re: April Reports: The CF Stitch-From-Stash Challenge

Well, I found a great way to not spend anything on stash ... just make sure you don't have time to! :D I've not done much stitching these last few weeks and haven't had time to even look at potential stash purchases. Little One's birthday was last week and we had a party for her at the house this pa...

Re: Avatar name?

What a cool topic. You can really learn a lot about people from the name they chose and why they chose it. :D My name actually comes from my college major, mechanical engineering. On all the paperwork and even in speaking with people mechanical engineering was abbreviated Mech. E. So I just make Mec...

Re: My new project...pic heavy

Those are amazing! I think you've done a fantastic job! My favorites are the first two, but then again greens and blues are my colors. :D I would absolutely buy colorfast hand dyed fabrics. In fact, I was looking for some when I made my little dragon dice bag, but my LNS didn't have anything colorfa...

Re: The CF, No-Rationalization, Stitch-From-Stash Challenge

I'll give this a go! I've been trying to stick to stitching form stash this year before now anyway. Although, not completely successfully (I blame you pretty sunflower chart! :D ), but I promise to do better from now on. For full disclosure I will admit that I will have some purchases in the near fu...

Re: Fall Fairy Update Dec. 3

I've spent the past week or so working on the backstitching. I'm actually surprised at how quickly it going. I'm probably about a third of the way through the basic backstitching. After that will be the gold cording and the beads. Not much longer! I'm so pleased with how she's looking. http://i1227....

Re: Made my cross stitch into a bag! -Again! March 13

Okay...the first bag...did you frame it with the fabric or sew the cross stitch to the fabric?? I realky wanna try one of these!! I framed it with fabric after I stitched it. I wanted to make the bag big enough to hold her ballet shoes, tap shoes, and a change of clothes. The fabric I stitched the ...

Re: Made my cross stitch into a bag! -Again! March 13

Thanks, everyone! Both bags look great! And boxed corners are special kind of magic when you're learning them. You look at the instructions and think HUH? that makes no sense, and then take a leap of faith and jump in.. and suddenly as you follow the instructions step by step it all comes toge...

Re: Obligatory purchases

Yes, it was the Stitching Post. I felt only semi-welcome there. After I'd been there a few minutes, one of the ladies took some time to show me new things that had come in and made me feel somewhat welcome. They were all cordial, but I was the only person in the store and didn't feel like they were...

Re: Made my cross stitch into a bag! -Again! March 13

I love the bag, the colors go great! I hope i get to see the pink one too!!! Thanks! I haven't done the pink one yet  . It's on my list since Little One will be starting a dance class that requires actual dance shoes this summer (the 3 year old class that she's in now dances barefoot). ...

Re: Made my cross stitch into a bag!

Well, I've dusted off the sewing machine again and made another cross stitch into a bag. This one is all mine. I needed a bag to keep my gaming dice in, so I found a cute little dragon freebie that was just the right size and stitched it up. Then, using the tutorial I found here as a starting point ...

Re: Baby Proofing Cross stitch area

I too have my little corner of the couch when I tend to sit and stitch. I keep my active project in a zippered storage bag like these on the table next to the couch (for my large projects the threads are in a plastic storage box under the bag since they won't all fit inside). The girls know not to t...
