... Give us trees and forests, log cabins and dirt roads. Railroad tracks and trains. Trucks and cars. Hunting and fishing... No, no, no :P except for those 'cabins by the lake at sunset' designs. I can always imagine myself on the verandah or the jetty with a gin and tonic. :D I love lots of colou...

Re: Mrs MBK's Simple Sewing Struggles!

They're really great, Amanda, and your tutorial link has solved my problem on how sew up small padded cross stitch Christmas decorations. You've also helped me justify buying my first sewing machine :D (something I've wanted since I was a teenager and which was just 'not on' for boys in the 60s). I ...

Every hole in backstitch?

http://i1177.photobucket.com/albums/x359/dalronix/backstitch.jpg I'm trying to understand the paths to take for backstitching. Should I use every hole I pass or can I jump? For example from the image stitch 1 to 2 to 3 to 4 then jump to 6 missing 5, then jump to 8 missing 7. Then each hole 8,9 &...

They may have but if you go to countries like Vietnam finished cross stitch is big business. You can go to shops where there are rows and rows of men and women doing two-handed cross stitching all day, every day.

Hi Madegan,

I haven't checked the results to see if they fit what you're looking for, but a lot of stuff comes up on Google with 'cross stitch titanic at night'.

Thanks, Sally.

I thought it might have been overlocking. After having a look at the price of overlockers, I'll have to stick to masking tape. :)

Re: Moonlit Cabin progress

Hi Gary,

Pardon my beginner's ignorance, but what is the stitching down the left side of the fabric? Did you do that or was it that way as part of the kit?

Cheers,

Re: Cross Stitch in Sydney?

The Blue Mountains ones I used to frequent closed up long ago. I use the Internet particularly eBay & http://www.sewandso.co.uk" target="_blank for just about all of my requirements. Australian stores tend to be very expensive in comparison. If you can make it down to Bowral (about 100...

Re: Cross Stitch in Sydney?

You could try Tapestry and Craft, 50 York St They are fairly expensive but always had a large stock of stitchy supplies. Also in the same street at number 68 is Lincraft, always reliable and well stocked. They are in central Sydney and easy to find. Same company I mentioned above. :) They're now kn...

I haven't been to this store for many, many years now so I'm not giving it a personal recommendation. However, it's the only one I know of in Sydney's CDB and it's a short bus ride from Kings Cross. http://morrisandsons.com.au/" target="_blank http://morrisandsons.com.au/catalog/locations....

Re: My mind wandered today

I have bought 6 or 7 completed needlepoint pieces (as long as I liked the picture) on ebay over the past year when the seller has indicated there's a name and date on the back. I can't explain the pleasure I get when the purchase arrives. I've noticed that, sadly, very few completed needlework proje...

Re: Sew and so is fab!!!

I've bought a lot of stuff from sewandso recently and it's rapidly becoming my favourite store. I've found the prices are often better than ebay for the same product (and waaay better than local shops) and I usually get my parcel down here in Australia in 7 to 10 days. A floor stand I bought last ye...

No, Niki, you can't. As I said above I usually do needlepoint and I've never been able to use the sewing method for that either.
