Re: Confessions of a Cross Stitcher
When I buy a kit with 14 count fabric, I'll substitute 28 count because the large holes in the 14 count fabric are too noticeable once the piece is framed. People at frame shops don't appreciate my level of scrutiny. The first thing I notice when I pick up a framed piece is whether the cross stitch ...

Re: When it's time to become an intermediate?
I wouldn't think so hard about "Am I ready to stitch on this fabric or that?" If you find a design you want to do then go for it. Doing stitching is for fun so have fun with it. Try new stuff if you want or stick with what you do now. Don't think too much about it or stress over it. Doing ...
Re: Framing
I get all my pieces framed, usually with 2 mats and clear glass. The shop that has been getting most of my business lately is Jo Ann Fabric but that is coming to an end. The last piece I got framed there wasn't stretched straight and the employee annoyed me with her excuses of why she couldn't get i...

Re: Back of cross stith pieces
I try and make the back of my design neat. Mostly out of pride in the work I do and somewhat out of obsession.

Re: Lenne's SAL- Contains Potentially Offensive Material
Her nickname is Spaz, no idea why but it's what she's dubbed herself. I must admit I'm offended. Not at the really cool piece you did though. It's that your friend created her own nickname. Doesn't she know that the first rule in nicknaming is "no self gloss". Her nickname has to be creat...

Re: Shortcake Finish
Thanks for the nice comments on this one. One of my daughter's favorite characters. The design was fairly square, maybe 6 inches by 6 inches. Easy project to complete.

Re: Pirate Finish
Thanks for the nice comments. Did this one for my son and he likes it. It was an easy stitching project. No confetti but a fair bit of backstitching on the letters.

I'd just ask him whether he wants to be surprised or not. If he wants the surprise then tell him to quit snooping. If he wants to know what it is then show him what you have done so far and what it'll be when it's finished. He'll still appreciate it either way.

Re: What to do with finished projects
I always frame my finished pieces. Mostly cause I don't know how to make things into a pillow or card or whatnot. Plus it keeps the design nice and clean under glass. I like the rotating pictures idea. Is there a way you could rework how you decorate your house and put the pictures closer together. ...

Re: Off topic: turned away by dating agency because I stitch
Without reading what anyone else commented, these dating sites are looking for women that are fast and loose. I wouldn't be put off or even be a slight bit sad about it. You might even consider it a compliment. My friends who have went hunting for women or men usually end up with someone who has iss...

Re: I'm a Loser...
First week back at p90x was a success. Hit all the workouts as scheduled and managed to lose 4 pounds. Mostly carb and salt bloat but it's 4 less pounds to carry around.
