Re: Gridding

I used a fine tip washable marker and gridded a new piece I'm starting. It was very easy. I think I'll do the markers from now on.

Re: Hello from Medway, UK

I'm working on a very detailed piece that involves a lot of confetti stitching. This is the first time I've ever had an issue with this. I have never used grid lines but I gridded this piece and it has helped tremendously. I used a product call easy count. It looks like red fishing line but my grids...

Re: some of my other crafts

As well as cross stitch, I also make jewelry, soap and candles. I'm not sure you can have too many hobbies or crafts. Here are some of my soap creations:

Welcome to the group. I too am a breast cancer survivor. I was diagnosed in 2008. I had surgery and radiation. So far, so good.

Re: Hello from Kansas

Yes, I'm not sure how long the Girl with the Watering Can will take me. No hurry.... Here is one of my mom's works. She wasn't able to stitch the last few years of her life due to a brain disease. She did lots and lots of pieces during her life though. http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/28992...

Re: How do you organize your floss?

I have tried about every system out there. Sandwich bags, numbered cards etc. I am now using numbered plastic bobbins in a craft box. This seems to keep the floss from getting twisted and tangled.

Re: Gridding

I guess I'll try the pen next time. It would probably be faster. Gridding with the nylon (just on a part of my chart) was tedious. It certainly helps my 62 year old eyes though.

Re: how did you start?

My mother was an avid cross stitcher. I have stitched on and off over the past few years. I recently began stitching again and had forgotten how much I had enjoyed it. My daughter is also a stitcher. She loves to do Disney designs and desert scenes. My first project was a series of four exotic birds...

Gridding

I have never used gridding. My mother didn't ever use gridding that I recall. However, between my new project being very complex and my eyes being older, I decided to use gridding. I was counting and sometimes, my eyes would blur causing me to miss my counts. I spent several hours gridding a portion...

Hello from Kansas

I recently joined the group. I live in Wichita, Kansas and am a department administrator at a medical school. I used to cross stitch and had not done it for a few years. I lost my mother a little over a year ago. She was an avid stitcher and completed many beautiful projects. I recently began cleani...
