Re: The Forum Upgrades

I fixed my problem with Firefox Mozilla! I cleared my history and the cache, Clear All Private Data. I think the browser got confused and wanted to load cache files that no longer quite fit so everything flashed and nothing happened. As soon as I clear out the browser little brain and connected thro...

Re: The Forum Upgrades

I can't even get the page to load properly in firefox. It flashes violently and keeps trying to load but I never got to see the new forum. I will have to play with my settings and see if I can fix it.

Re: Forum Afgan Designs

Really lovely design Mabel! How large is it? I am tempted to say that we should make designs for the Charles Craft Lady Elizabeth Afgan. You can stitch over either 1 or 2 threads and the advert says it has 7 x 7 inch spaces (approx) that are 96 threads across. If we went with 6.5 inch blocks it woul...

Forum Afgan Designs

There seems to be an interest in learning some basic design skills and making graphs and charts to share those designs. Hopefully we will all become confident enough to do competitions with designs made for certain pre-finished items or with themes in mind. To get started and just try a basic design...

What type of afghan? There are so many and so many different design sizes. I have a Charles Craft Lady Elizabeth which supports designs approximately 6in wide either 84 stitches over one thread or 42 stitches over 2 threads. It has 20 spaces. Which afghan should we all design for? Maybe we should se...

I know how you feel. I have some chronic health issues that complicate my employment options. It is a weird place to be in because I am only 28 and my husband and I don't have kids yet so I am not even taking on the mother part of the housewife role. In people minds I must do nothing even though tak...

Thanks threadbear that should work! As for the design master class, I have an idea! If we are all learning together how to make a basic design and chart it by hand or on our own software why not do something like make designs that fit in a standard afghan readily available in shops on both sides of ...

Aha! This does look interesting! Thank You!

Also, I have never looked at this site! I didn't realize folks over on the other side of the pond had so many good options. Only one of these titles is carried at Borders and the asking price for one magazine is $12.95!

Well, I suppose we shall have to do for ourselves. As far as explaining how to design I would say that it varies. Some people can pick up a piece of canvas, choose their colors and just stitch out what they want. Some people use graph paper and colored pencils. I knew an older women that came into t...

Design Competition

Once Upon a Time Cross Stitch & Country Crafts had a competition for a small design in every issue. The magazine no longer does this and I can't find a publication or website that does this. It isn't that I want to win or that I want prizes. I want to be given a theme and format to work on. Some...

Stitchers Swap & Sale Site?

I find Ebay intimidating and I would prefer to trade or sell designs and magazines in a friendlier setting. Other craft and hobby interests have sites that support both exchange or trade of materials and sale at rates lower then Ebay and even original list price, the lack of posting fees really help...

Sites I like to look at

I apologize if in and of the sites I list have already been mentioned. http://www.sewandso.co.uk/ I found this website when I was hunting for "Classic Winnie the Pooh" designs. They don't seem to have them anymore but they carry a large selection of Disney's Pooh as well as Beatrix Potter ...

Hard Question!

If you check out my Gallery you will see two framed pieces. One is called "Dreaming of Tuscany" and the other is "As ye sew". The pieces were exactly the same size at 5inx7in. I purchased the painted wooden frames at the same time. But "Tuscany" took me easily 10 times ...

Good News!

I won the bid on ebay! They are sending it Media Mail so it might take a little while to get to me before I can redirect anything to you. I got them for about $1 a piece. I hope that isn't to expensive! Any one that has a stocking on it I will put aside and ask you to see if you would like them. Als...

:D You are in luck! Currently I have a bid on Ebay to purchuse 53 Cross Stitch and Country Craft Magazines. It fills in my gaps but I only need 22 of them and the issue you want would become a DUPLICATE COPY for me. I haven't won the bid yet. It ends Thursday around 2:20pm. If I win when they arrive...

Have a look at my gallery. I stitched a wedding record and before I worked in the text I scanned it to make it my invite. That is actually what is in the gallery, my invite. My mom used her computer and the scan to make the file we printed on her color printer and then sent out to everyone. Some of ...

Cross Stitch & Country Crafts Stockings & Index

"Cross Stitch & Country Craft" magazines did a LOT of stocking designs that matched each other before they were bought by Better Homes and Gardens. The December 1998 issue of "Cross Stitch & Needlework" which is what the publication turned into has a project index in it 1...

New to the Forum!

Hello! My name is Christine and I have been cross stitching since I was 9. Lately I have been working out designs of my own and optimistically posting them to Etsy.com. I have also been trying to learn specialty stitches. I was lucky enough to buy a copy of "Cross Stitch and Sampler Book" ...
