Re: Questions on starting a new pattern.
I am doing the Fly Butterfly pattern. I doesn't look like it will be all that difficult so hopefully I can finish it in a lot less time than some of the others charts I looked at. How much material should i leave around the sides if I decide to start in the corner? Thanks for all the help!!

What has been your favorite piece to have stitched?
My favorite piece was one I did back in the early 90's. I can't remember the name of the pattern, but it was a Paula Vaughan piece. It had 2 little girls playing dress up. At that time it was the most difficult pattern I had ever stitched. I changed the hair color on the little girls to match the co...
Hi all!
Hello everyone. My name is Paula. I have been cross stitching for about the last 35 years, I started very young, :D I have posted some pictures of my work in the gallery. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately  I didn't take pictures of any of my early work. I love to stitch and I am looking forw...

Re: About to start a big project, need tips!
I label floss bags with the dmc # and symbol written of the outside of the bag with a sharpie. After placing the thread in the proper bags I put them on a large metal hoop, in the order of the color number, so I can turn them easily. I have an unfinished big project that had tons of colors in and I ...

Re: Review sites you've ordered from
Mystic Stitch was awesome. They emailed me a copy of the pattern immediately, so I could get to stitching, and still mailed me a hard copy as well as a free bonus pattern. I will definately order from them again.
I've wanted to order a head pattern. I think I have my next one already picked out.

Re: how did you start?
I do not remember not knowing how to stitch. I was fortunate enough to know my great-grandmother. She was my babysitter until I started to school. She had arthritis and walked with crutches but was never lacking in ideas to keep me busy. Sitting on the "back porch" of her house I learned l...

Re: Metallic Threads
Something that I have found that helps with metallic, and most other threads, is to thread your needle and run needle and thread through a dryer sheet. It takes all the static out of the thread and helps it keep from tangling so easily.

Re: How/Why did you find the forum????????
I haven't been a member of this forum, but for a very short time. I came looking for others who enjoy the art of stitching. I used to know several people that stitched, but have either lost touch with them, or they have lost touch with stitching. So, I am here looking for ideas, techniques, and new ...

Re: How do you organize your floss?
My stash of thread I keep in my bedroom, so it's safe :D It is seperated into 100's, 200's, etc. (I know, not the best way, but it works for me). When I get ready to stitch a new project I bury myself in my mountains of thread and delight in picking out my floss. When each color is found a I a floss...
