Re: Need help with spacing before starting a project!

Thank you all for the replies! That is exactly what I needed to know! :D

I am going to stick with my original plan and stitch them onto one piece of fabric.

I'm making this for my daughter who just returned from her first 'big' trip -- she was in Russia with her college choir.

Need help with spacing before starting a project!

I am not sure what to do here and need some opinions! :? I have two patterns I want to stitch on one piece and then have them framed in one frame with two cut outs for the matting. Each image will be approximately 7"x10" -- how do I determine how much space to leave in-between the two of t...

Re: Random stuff I'm stitching for baby

Absolutely adorable! Stitching for babies is probably my favorite thing to do. My 'baby' is now 20 years old. I used to make SO many things for her or the nursery. Lots of bibs, too. I did a series of bibs starting with "One Month Old" and finished at "My First Birthday" and I ha...

I'm pretty new to the forum but I would enjoy a Facebook group. My job is the web specialist where I work and I basically spend every day with our website and Facebook open in a browser. :)

Re: Hi from Iowa!

Welcome. I've just read on the how I got started thread that you'd stitched little lettered blocks for your daughter spelling out her name. I have a pattern for alphabet blocks but as my daughter is now 19 months think she'll probably grow out of them by the time I finished it!! I never thought of ...

Re: Dear Cross stitchers...

I probably cannot offer very many good tips -- I've seen tons of them on this forum I have yet to try even though I used to do a LOT of stitching! Using a grid is something I'm anxious to try now. However, my favorite preparation for starting a complex project is to pre-thread my needles with colors...

Re: Dimensions kit stitch question

I am currently working on a Dimensions Gold kit, too. Christmas stockings. I'm doing the half stitches like this / but my full crosses end the other way like this \. Because the majority of the half stitches are the background and clumps of snow, I think it gives the finished piece a little more dep...

Re: How do you organize your floss?

This is a great thread full of so many ideas! I used to keep my floss in the plastic separated boxes with the cardboard bobbins. I think I had maybe 5 full ones when I sold everything. Just ordered a new box and the plastic bobbins to start rebuilding. I'm using my label maker to make numbered label...

Re: Washing Finished Projects

I think I have only washed one finished piece ever. I don't remember washing any others and the only reason I did the one was because I knocked over my coffee onto it. I used Dawn dishwashing and cold water and was able to get the stains out of the floss but it did leave a slight stain on the fabric...

Re: Hi from Iowa!

Take my word -- NEVER sell your stash/supplies! Mine had become so large and I hadn't touched them in years. Not only did I sell (and give away) an enormous amount of books, floss and fabrics but I also sold about a dozen unfinished projects which I would give almost anything to get back now. :( One...

Re: how did you start?

I wanted to learn knitting, embroidery, crocheting, etc. when I was very young. My mother's idea of being 'crafty' was wrapping a gift by herself -- and stick-on bow was optional. :) When I was about 9, she finally signed me up for crochet lessons. I made soooo many granny squares. I moved on from c...

Re: Hi from Iowa!

Thanks for the nice welcomes! After a break of about 15 years (while I learned to quilt and make handmade soap), I have started some Christmas stockings! I decided to buy two Dimensions kits because I loved the patterns. They are going to be for my daughter and her future husband as a wedding gift. ...

Hi from Iowa!

I found the forum last week and have so enjoyed reading through it! I joined today and wanted to say "howdy!" After years of not cross-stitching, I sold all my supplies about 5 years ago. I wondered if I'd ever regret it and I sure do now because I've started stitching again! Very happy to...
