Re: What brand lap stand?

Because if I baste on the project, I either have to unbaste and rebaste every time I want to switch to a different WIP. Whereas, if I get additional stretcher bars I can just swap out the set of bars with basted on project when I want to switch projects. I have several large projects, but I get bore...

Re: Last year was a doozy - Update w/pics 3/21/16 pg 6

I haven't taken the time to get things properly uploaded to my computer and then photobucket, but there's 4 pics here as well as some other crafts I've made since this past fall/winter. Everything below the three colorfy app colorings are older pictures from a year+ ago. As for anything new, I haven...

Re: Waxing already stitched thread?

I've only ever used it with the really tricky threads like metallic threads and glow in the dark thread. They tend to fray very easily and get kinked/tangled pretty badly. So conditioning them helps a lot in using them. I've never really felt a need to use them for anything else, but according to th...

Re: What brand lap stand?

Hmmm, I was on their site the other day and this one didn't look exactly the same, but it did look very similar. There were a few other brands I'd looked at that also looked vaguely similar, but each of them looked different enough that I wasn't sure. It's possible that any adapter could work with i...

What brand lap stand?

https://images.plurk.com/2VX0EoLBHSlWIZ1ETgiEPD.jpg I got this lap stand the other day off of freecycle, and I was wondering if anyone knew what brand it was? The kind woman I got it from couldn't remember/didn't know what brand it was. I want to order an adapter set for it so I can use other scrol...

Re: How do you organize you left-over floss from kits??

With larger kits, I put mine in little acid-free plastic baggies, 2x3" size. With the little kits from Cross Stitcher magazine (and other magazines,) I just leave them in the envelope they came in. I toss them all into a little box that I raid for tiny projects where the exact color doesn't mat...

Re: Last year was a doozy - Update w/pics 3/21/16 pg 6

Thanks everyone! I've had so much going on that I still haven't finished unpacking the stuff in my closets. Oops. Good luck with your disability case, cool penguin! Avis, I have taken Cognitive Behavior Therapy before, which while not exactly the same, was the one my psychiatrist felt was the better...

Re: Last year was a doozy - Update w/pics 3/21/16 pg 6

Thanks everyone, it looks deceptively expensive. ;) It's all about finding good deals. And IKEA has a lot of items that look way more expensive than they actually are. Simba loves it here, and he loves curling up with me on the chaise. And Richard, I didn't have any income at all for 3 years while I...

Re: Last year was a doozy - Update w/pics 3/21/16 pg 6

Okay, so here are the pics! A few of these are older because I realized that when I was taking the pics, I had taken them with people who'd already seen pics of the bathroom and closets in mind. So those old pics are being included. Right now the closets have boxes of things that still need unpackin...

Re: Last year was a doozy - Update 2/16/16 pg 5

That was exactly my thought in buying new. I want furniture that I won't have to replace for a very long time, and this was going to be my only chance to do so without having to do so on credit.

Re: Last year was a doozy - Update 2/16/16 pg 5

Thanks everyone for the advice. But I'd been eyeing some specific pieces at IKEA for quite some time, so that's where I wound up getting most of my furniture. I did look at resale shops for other items and even got some pieces at them. But I'm really pleased with my purchases. It was a big and excit...

Re: Last year was a doozy - Update 2/16/16 pg 5

Thanks ladies! The SSA says that they're disbursing the back pay today, so hopefully it will be in the bank tomorrow. Assuming it is, I'll be doing my furniture shopping sometime this week, depends on transportation. I shall have furniture soon.

Re: Last year was a doozy - Update 2/16/16 pg 5

I meant to update sooner, but life's been crazy. I have an apartment now! Which obviously means I got my money. Well, some of it anyway. I don't really have any furniture to speak of. I need to make a third trip down to the SSA to get them to release the funds for me to get the things I need for my ...

Re: This year has been a doozy - Update 10/23/15 pg 4

Thanks everyone! It is quite a relief indeed. I spoke to my lawyer today and he said I can expect my first payment within the next 45 days. I might get it as soon as November, but it could be as late as early December. Hopefully it's November. :x: Anyway, I can start looking into apartments now, eve...

Re: This year has been a doozy - Update 9/28/15 pg 3

Thanks Sally. I talked to my lawyer today and he said I could be hearing back anytime between tomorrow and January. I keep hoping it will be sooner rather than later, but I have things I need that I won't be able to get until I start getting that money and idk how long that'll be. I'd also really re...

Re: This year has been a doozy - Update 6/19/15 pg 3

Hi again. Sorry it's been so long since an update. My laptop ran into some issues this summer and that's still not resolved due to a lack of funds. I had my disability hearing at the end of August. As far as I can tell, it went well, but there's still no news on whether I've been approved or not. So...
