Both blankets are beautiful.
It must be so much fun working on them with all those colours, although handling them might be a bit frustrating at times, I guess.

Re: A New Chart Making Program. Update 28 Nov 2017
After reading the whole story (yes, Richard, all 14 pages  ) I am just speechless and amazed by your ability to develop such a program from scratch. Although a lot of text was too technical for me to understand at this point (certainly the details), it made me realise how well thought over Bl...

Re: Pattern Making Programs
This seems to work better: https://thumb.ibb.co/byQYz6/129_sq_b40_g04.jpg So, this is the picture I have been using to experiment with BlendThreads. We are still in the process of tweaking the photo (placement of the dogs, border, etc), but it is close to the chart creating stage. Some details: -fab...

Re: Pattern Making Programs
In fact, I was quite pleased. Very pleased. Quite smug, if I'm honest. You should be! The result looks great! If you can bear the whole story (...), the program development to date is here in all it's tedious detail I will certainly read the story behind the program, just as I have been reading the...

Re: Pattern Making Programs
Allyn and Richard, thank you for your explanations. Allyn, I will read the topic you found tomorrow. I did a search on 'dark adjustment' and that didn't work so well. In the quick read I just did, it seems you found the information I was looking for. Richard, after reading your explanation I might j...

Re: Pattern Making Programs
When you make your own patterns from a photo or picture, do you make adjustments to the colours if you know where your final piece will be placed? For people familiar with Richards BlendThreads: do you use the "dark adjusted DMC" file and if so, for what light conditions? Only for spaces w...

Re: A short introduction
Thank you for the warm welcome. I have found Richards program (BlendThreads) and am in the process of discovering its possibilities while preparing the photo for conversion to a chart. Hopefully I will figure out how to post pictures (a quick read of the topic in the 'tips and tricks' section surely...

A short introduction
I discovered this forum while searching for a (free) pattern making program. In my enthusiasm, I offered people very dear to me to stitch a photo of their choice for them. So this time I will have to do the process of pattern making myself, instead of selecting a ready-to-go pattern. Let's say I do ...

Re: Pattern Making Programs
In 2016 I used Pic2Pat to convert a coloured drawing of a car to a pattern, and the conversion was good enough for the purpose of the final result. I compared 3 free conversion programs (MyPhotoStitch, Pic2Pat, and Stitchboard). Pic2Pat gave the best result, with the advantage that they show several...
