Re: Here we go!

He's adorable. I have nothing to contribute except to say it's lovely. :)

I watch a lot of British TV and one thing I've learned that seems to be sacrosanct is that anything can be made right with a nice cup of tea.

Re: Magnifying lights

My headgear sits on my nose, holding the lens out in front, so it's the same but different. Like this one . I was going through a 12-pack of batteries about every week, which was very expensive and like I said, the weight on the bridge of my nose was too much. (who knew three AAA batteries would be ...

Re: Magnifying lights

Yeah, I know I'm late to the party, but I wanted to add my two cents to the thread. ... I use a headlight or a headlight & magnifier, like the one here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Headband-Head-Mounted-2-LED-Lamps-Light-Jeweler-Magnifier-Magnifying-Glass-Loupe/282877251734?epid=845055990&has...

Re: Help?

All things considered, the fabric is quite easy to replace and getting it yourself, you can likely get a better quality fabric than they included in the kit.

Re: Help?

I get it. I restarted my Color of the Wolf after I was well into the project and I am very glad that I did. I never would have been happy if I had continued with a project that was already disappointing me. Me? I would do 18 count because I like the coverage of two-over-one on 18 ct, but that would ...

...A colleague at work says he talks to a friend in Pensacola, Florida, and when he said about temps as high as 25C, the friend said 'Yes, we experience temps of 25C too, and have a name for them - Winter'. ^That. 25C (77F) was our overnight low last night. Right now (noon) the heat index is 46C (1...

Re: Substitution question

I am not familiar with it, but.....can you do a few sample stitches in the margin or on a scrap of the same fabric to see if you like it and it compares to the sample image of the pattern?

Re: Stitching Apps

I store my patterns in PDF form, but I still print a hardcopy when stitching them using highlighters to mark done stitches and parked threads. I still use a flip phone, so no apps for me and my stitching station doesn't have room for a laptop. :)

Oh Mabel, that is wonderful. I know you'll keep us posted. :) Coming through for them in a clinch should put you a few rungs higher on the go-to list, I'm sure. ....as the help files are adequate if the user can be bothered to read them - and a lot haven't! ...Funny how D/H's can get that blank look and even when you explain the look doesn't change! :tizzy: Actually, it does change. It goes from the blank stare of hope (hoping that it'll be something meaningful to him) to the "Oh good grief" sag and almost-an-eye-roll. :D ....A stitcher's ha...

Floss Cones!

I just got an email from DMC announcing that 22 of their colors are available on floss cones . Each cones holds 2,279 yards of 6-strand floss. So, now for the funny part. I read the email and gasped and probably muttered something like "Oh that's wonderful" or something else equally breath...

...Example: Allyn, your taste is a bit different from mine but I love seeing your work and your updates because everything you stitch is just gorgeous. Thank you. That's how I feel when seeing what other folks stitch, too. Just because I don't stitch fluffy bunnies and butterflies doesn't mean I do...

Re: How do you do a bookmark?

This is an old thread resurrected, but still very relevant. I have done 2-sided bookmarks so the back looked like a mirror of the front and it wasn't easily distinguishable which was the 'front'. I use a single strand of the floss and do each leg of the stitch twice so you're doing 2-over but with o...

Re: Almost OT - Looking for Opinions

For anyone that was interested, here's the final report: The rent was resolved in a surprising outcome. They all agreed to pay 1/3 of the rent, but no one gets the private bedroom. It was agreed that two people would share the larger bedroom and the third person would carve out space in the common a...

Re: Almost OT - Looking for Opinions

I know of four people sharing a three bedroom two bathroom place. Two of them (boyfriend/girlfriend) share the master bedroom which has its own bathroom. One of the bedrooms is smaller that the master and the second bedroom. They each pay 1/4 of the rent. I think each in your example should pay 1/3...

Re: Almost OT - Looking for Opinions

You guys are awesome and brought up points that I didn't consider (I knew y'all would which is why I asked.) The three young people are individuals that are acquainted, but no two are a couple. It's purely a financial arrangement so they can all 1) get out of their parents' houses, and 2) be close e...

Almost OT - Looking for Opinions

Just to keep this sort of on topic, Artecy has two patterns on their freebie page for the next two weeks. Go to the website and click on "Free Patterns" on the blue bar. I'm sorry if this seems a little weird, but this is the only place I can post where I *know* that people involved won't ...
