I checked out that URL, and it gets somewhere... but not where you thought Inuyashagirl. Try this one: www.twdesignworks.com/index.html

And, yes, the free stuff is good. Also check out www.twdesignworks.com/pol.html
for lots of other patterns, all copyrighted, for you TW fans.

I'm afraid I'm a slack stitcher: I use a pen and put the thread colour number on the little tab at the top.

21 pages! Wow, that's some design. When I've worked large designs in x-stitch and hardanger, there is usually an overlap between the pages. For example, there might be six stitches on each page edge that's a duplicate. Of course, you only stitch the overlap once! (unless it's late and you stayed up ...

Not so much a Bagpuss and a Stylepuss!

It's a shame, really, that when you change the avatar, all of previous pictures change, too. Newbies will have missed the trendy cigarette holder... :)

What a relief! Someone else who loves the stitching but the interest goes a bit when faced with the "sewing" and "finishing". Whew! Another guilty seacret revealed!

I've never used multicolour perle on evenweave, only ever on Aida, so there you go! Evenweave is nothing to be afraid of. You just need good light, or good eyesight (or both), and a bit of time to get used to it. And you already cross your stitches as you go, which is half the battle. Because it's l...

Well, it depends on the effect you want. Keep in mind that if the circumference of the circle is broad, you will not have a good colour flow anyway. (Most of the thread will be on the back, where no one can see it!) You might want to go around a circle. But for any band patterns, I would tend to sti...

Yes, me too.

If you're lucky enough to be able to stitch during the day, sit facing a window, and the light shines through the fabric. I find this helps, too.

As far as I can see, it only comes in skeins of that size. I have found a huge variation in price, though, and the URL I gave you is the cheapest. (They might make it up in P&P, of course...) You might find that they are such fun to work with that other ideas may pop into your head, and one skei...

I've always found these multi-coloured threads to be readily available, both in local shops and by mailorder. They aren't cheap, of course! Try this URL:
http://www.willowfabrics.com/acatalog/A ... rle_8.html

I've used them and they're great fun.

Hi, Tigerlillie I've never stitched an animal, although I've just started an owl, so I guess that counts. I've been looking out for a really wonderful, realistic tiger for my husband, who adores them, but no luck so far. So many of the muzzles or eyes are not quite right. I'd welcome any suggestions!...

The silk floss is nice except that you know every area on your hand that is not silky smooth :)[/quote] There's some hand cream made for gardeners marketed by, I think, Crabtree and Evelyn, which makes a big difference to stitchers' hands. It's also fiendishly expensive, but how often do you have th...

Oh, I know how that is!

I guess I would put it onto a frame or a roller, rather than risk using a hoop. How big is your hoop?

I've never worked with silk floss. Sounds like this is a very special project. What is it?

Well, Miss Plum, rub it in! We in the Northern Hemisphere are some combination of cold, wet, icy, grey-skyed. However, the snowdrops are up and there are even some benighted crocus in one of my flowerbeds -- a touch early... Keep us informed on how you get on with the Amish Farm. If you want to know...

Greetings, Larsan. I have done a bit of work on linen, and I agree that it's a wonderful fabric to work with. I usually use a frame, but have recently been using a 6" hoop on a bellpull with Cashel linen. I haven't had any problem with it so far, but I always, always take the hoop off when I'm ...

Too true! The only time I get to stitch to my heart's content is when I'm away on holiday, and that's usually only for a week. Otherwise I find that I have to do all the chores, and 'proper' working, before I can relax. I don't know about anyone else, but the dust in my house whispers to me when I'm...
