Which frame should I get?

Post by Nicola Main »

I usually use embroidery hoops for my cross stitching but I'm thinking of investing in a frame too. I usually do smaller projects than larger ones but would just like something which I could use comfortably and to keep my aida taut whilst stitching. Which one would you recommend?

These are quite good, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Elbesee-Rotatin ... itch+frame

But then I'd also get something like this to hold it http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271704068118? ... EBIDX%3AIT

If you can be patient you can't go past a Millenium frame for drum tight fabric and ease of use. I paid a small fortune for shipping to Australia and waited 3 months ... worth it all.

I like my flexi-hoops for good tension - I've got them up to 10" so they will cover quite a good size.

When I do stitch something bigger, or something very long, I use the Elbesee Easy-clip frames. I've got the 12" and the 18", but I hardly ever use the latter I must admit. Tension is OK, though of course only held top and bottom, not the sides - but unless I do pulled work (where you deliberately distort the fabric by pulling very hard on your working thread) that's not a problem.

Myst, I'm interested to know from someone who has actually used one - how does the Millennium frame keep its tension? It's not held on all four sides is it? I did look at some of them at the K&S Show but it would be good to hear a "user review"!

Hi, I love my Millenium frame from Needleneeds UK. You have to wait awhile and yes expensive but well worth the money. http://needleneeds.co.uk/store/special- ... kit-1.html" target="_blank" target="_blank

I have tried most frames over many years and this is my favourite :D

I'm another fan of the millenium frame.. though since I only have one set of rods that are rather large, I use Qsnaps for smaller items.
