I won a job lot of Pearsal Filofloss silks on eBay, and as it has quite a lot of duplicates I thought I'd put some of them up here.

Filofloss silks were made by Pearsall, who now produce Filoselle silk, from the 1920s to the 1940s. It is a low-twist stranded thread with a high lustre, and has a lovely smooth feel. You will of course not be able to buy any other shades, but if you would like to try stitching with silk, just to see if you like it, you could use some of these for a small design. The silks are wound on the original cardboard bobbins (see picture below).

I have the following on offer (postage 29p for a second class stamp :-)):

a set of three greens, 90p
a set of two greens, 60p
another set of two greens, 60p
yellow, 30p
beige, 30p
bright green (2x), 30p

(postage for two sets is quite likely to still be 29p as they weigh next to nothing)

Me, tempting people to buy stash? Surely not :-)

OK, beige, yellow and one bright green are yours -- just pm me your address. As for payment, would a cheque be OK?

Ohh I love the greens they are just so shiney and bright. I love green but I am not much into the silks. They sound fabulous. You said they are low-twist does this mean that you use them as a single thread or do you pull them apart like the regular floss???

Rose, they are 6-stranded like ordinary floss, I've had a quick look and they're about the same thickness as stranded cotton; "low twist" apparently means (so the man at Pearsall's told me) that the strands are twisted together only loosely to hold them together in the thread until the separate strands are used, it's not a tight twist like pearl cotton which you use without separating.

I'll post them tomorrow :-)

That means that there are only the two lower sets of two greens left, and as I just noticed the middle two are not quite full skeins I'll put them together for £1
