Hello from a newcomer

Post by Novice stitcher »

Hi, I come from Cumbria in the UK, I have only tried cross stitch twice, first time I joined my Gran daughter in a project at her junior school, they made a Anchor for the school hall by the boys and the arts and crafts teacher thought it would be idea to cover it with small cross stitch
project made by the girls and Mums and Grans, we all had to draw a picture to do with boat, sea or beach then transfer it to grid, everyone enjoyed doing it and it was nice to have the different generations all enjoying it together.
I am now having another go on my own haha,
I have been a knitter most of my life and have knitted for the special care baby unit at my local hospital for a number of years, so now I thought it was time for a change,
I am looking forward to meeting you all. bye for now.

Welcome from Whanganui on the south west coast of New Zealands North Island. I'm a knitter and spinner and also knit singlets beanies and booties for a NICI, though been doing that for my latest great grandchild more recently. Mostly my time has been taken up with preserving over the last month with jam sauce and, as of yesterday, Tomato Relish now filling my shelves and the shelves of several friends but still no day could end without some knitting crochet or stitching even if it has to be really late to get going with hands that can get really sweaty in this heat.

Hi Lynn  and welcome from me too in very warm and humid Brisbane. Its great to have you along.

I still knit occasionally but prefer stitching especially in the temperatures and humidity up here. Looking forward to getting to know you more and seeing your work. :D

Hello Karan, I have been to Florida twice to the theme parks, only saw the parks as we stayed on Disney and had a run down to Tampa very busy holiday, we love Cypress gardens, such a relaxing place in comparison to all the other places, and of course the shopping haha.

Hi Lillybit, I love the knitting I do for the baby's, so cute, unfortunately ours don't accept booties or mittens, their afraid of " tiny fingers and toes getting caught up in the yarn" so the ones I made on my first visit I dropped off to the Maternity ward to give to anyone who might like them, I had knit 12 pr it seemed a shame to take them home again, a nurse called round to our shop " fish and chips " a few days later and said they had all gone, so my time wasn't wasted after all.
I envy your preserving talents, might have to give that a go some time.

Hi Sally, I do wish all you people in your warmer counties would stop talking about it haha its freezing hear and has been for ages very cold wet and windy, I haven't quite manage to put a photo on a forum as yet, one day maybe haha, I ddi get one on an email once so maybe there is hope for me.
My first project is a chunky cushion kit, my gran daughter loves owls so I found a kit of 2 sitting on a tree branch, I've done the first 9 rows at the bottom and now I have to start the colour combination, here goes haha.

Hi,
I am also new to the forum. Have been stitching for years on and off and have a couple of things on the go! I like to try different crafts but always come back to cross stitch! Am trying to crochet at the moment but can only do it when my daughter is in so she can keep me right.
Looking forward to joining in with things,
Bye for now
