You lucky thing.
We have a home converted Merc Sprinter Camper, and it always seems to rain when we go out in it.

Finished at last! Only 18,081 stitches. Try viewing "Full Screen" and stand back a bit, looks much better. The Aida fabric can be seen through the stitching (in hair) on this photo but this is not so obvious when holding the cloth in hand. Maybe this is the result of pulling only 3 pieces of Floss behind the needle? It was much easier than sewing with 4 x floss, but that's what happens. It's something to consider next time, which will be heaven knows when because I am going to put this frame away and get my life back on track! That's my problem, I can't multi task very well. Have got things to do and my house needs sorting out.........
Cheerio for now, happy stitching to you all!

Back stitching is a form of outlining different parts of the design. Some designers use it to emphasize details or add details to a piece. There are many great tutorials (graphic and video) around that help explain how to do many of the stitches that pop up now and again. Two of my favorites areScarlet Quince Tutorials and Mary Corbet Tips & Techniques.

We also have a Glossery which has a lot of the terms, expressions, abbreviations and slang which we use. I refer back to it often.

Great finish, congratulations, and she looks a very attractive young lass. Makes for a very lifelike picture.

Can I ask what count Aida you were using? On 14ct with 2 threads I have got similar fabric show through on my pieces. If you were using 3 threads, was it 11 count? Or if 14ct, then maybe you need to pull the thread a little less tightly. That way you'll get slightly better coverage in areas of high contrast with the background.

Regards,

Richard.

Hi Richard,
I was using 14ct Aida with 3 threads. I suspect that my thread pulling technique as you suggest is too tight, delicate finger work isn't easy when I have hands like shovels! However, it's not a big problem just something else to consider next time I'm stitching dark colours. Thanks for the advice.
regards Dave
