Do you like it? ISn<t it hard to reach around the back for the needle?

Which lap stand are you looking at? Most of them you just flip over so no not a problem at all to get to the back, the odd one or two don't work that way which is why I ask which one you are looking at?

No specific one yet... I am moving onto some larger projects so I thought maybe I should investigate the matter!
My Qsnaps will get kind of big to hold and stitch at the same time...

I have one and I love it. I use two hands method. One is underneath the fabric and the other is on top of the fabric. The only time I need to go underneath is to end or start the thread.

I don't work with any kind of frame, just can't get on with them

I tried a lap stand for a while (I had previously only ever used a wooden hoop) and I just couldn't get along with it. I couldn't get comfortable and my shoulders would start aching after stitching for only a short time. I use a floorstand now and much prefer it.

I stitch exclusively on lap/floor frames, and have for many years. I found that my work never came out as neatly as I wanted it to, using hoops, and later, qsnaps. I find that my tension is neater, and my fabric stays cleaner. Stitching is also much, much faster because you can use the two handed method.

I own two K's Creations Adjustable lap frames (the medium and the large), and used them for nearly ten years. All K's products come with a lifetime warranty, and I can tell you that their customer service is top notch! I only recently purchased a floor frame from someone else because K's didn't make a big enough frame for what I needed.

For my really big projects (like Golden Kite's or HaEDs), I prefer my Mark II floor stand, by Hearthside Craftworks. The pricetag is pretty hefty on this one, but I can tell you that no serious stitcher should be without one.

I have a lapman frame that I use for smaller projects and to sit outside in the garden, they are very good indeed.

I started out with a lap stand and learnt how to stitch with two hands. But it wasn't that stable and was a pain when I needed to get up quickly as it was all tangled up in my legs and my blanket. So I caved and got a Lowery and have never looked back.

I still have the lap frame so I can take it to other places if I need to stitch, but have found with a medium sized frame I can carry on stitching with two hands using my knees as support if I sit crossed legged!

I do think they are worth trying!

Hi , I did not really get on very well with a lap stand. The frame which I like best is a one-leg adjustable free standing frame. The advantage of this is that the arm holding the cross stitch can be moved up or down, and back and forwards towards me. So I can sit back in an easy chair and adjust it to exactly the right position for stitching in comfort. As I sometimes suffer from neck problems, this is a great advantage for me and I guess many other people. You just flip the work over to see the back of the stitching. I must say that for me this makes for a nice relaxed way to stitch, but of course this will not suit everyone.
