I was given one for my birthday but I am a bit scared of it- looks like a torture device for fabric and I was wondering if over time where the holes are made by the side panels to maintain tension in fabric if they stretch? They have an online video for it which was about as helpful as a hat made of cheese which is a shame. Thanks in advance!

I saw them being demonstrated at a craft fair. I didn't like the way they gripped the fabric. I thought that could cause tearing if not handled properly. I also wondered about permanant damage to the fabric. The sales person tried to convince me that these were going to replace the Q Snap. Not if I can help it! I wasn't impressed.
I must admit I haven't used them myself, so I may be a little harsh, but I can only go on first impressions.

I have, and I don't like them much. They are only good if the piece of fabric is exactly the correct size. In fact, they might just go to Oxfam, since I'll never willingly use them again. :thinks:

Your description of a torture device sounds very close to how they looked to me as well ...

Haha you want to see something scarier? Watch their video! My other half said I was quite funny to watch I had this inner NOOOOOOOO going on in my head when they went through all these fabrics and finally when they used silk I actually said NOOOOOOO out loud!

Lenne I can imagine lol. I marvel at your restraint to last until the silk lol. Still I guess some people must take to them because they have sold a few. Maybe they just look scary.

I saw them demonstrated at the Knitting & Stitching Show last year  Never will I submit any of my fabric to that!

I have also seen them used for framing, as an alternative to lacing. That I can sort of see might work.

Good thinking, Mabel! Might give that a go at some point. Strangely enough I've just ordered some frames and some crochet thread and I am going to give lacing and framing a go later this week so that should be interesting hehe :)

I use them for framing but I'm a bit more gentle than they suggest. I got a great result on my first try and found it easy to get the fabric stretched evenly.

They do indeed look a bit like a torture device though :D

I have used this frame on a large tapestry and found it great, it kept the fabric taut throughout, I have'nt tried it yet on 16 or 18 count though, if anyone does'n' want their frame piece's i would gladly receive them and refund the postage.x
