When I looked at the picture it looked like waste canvas to me and it is used to stitch on regular fabric. Google "waste canvas" and you will get an idea of what you can do with it. I have used it for many projects all of the angels in my gallery are done with it. So is the bag I just finished, there is a picture of it in my gallery as well.
If you are looking for some one to help change you, look in the mirror

Tony can you take a pic of it and post here so we can get a better idea of what it is

It looked to me like "Double Canvas"

Which is for tapestry Its like adia but with bigger holes

I have a piece which i use to make place mats with for the caravan using 6 strands of silk or double knitting wool

Looked like tapestry canvas to me. You can tell if it's waste canvas - try pulling a thread out vertically (ie don't pull it sideways from the canvas pull it straight) if it doesn't budge it's tapestry canvas. If it easily pulls out it's waste designed to give a guide for stitching on other fabric.

As for ideas you can plan a tapestry canvas just like you do cross stitch. I have patterns but they're all in storage 8{ If you have a look at my picks the blue bargello is on tapestry canvas ... I will dig around see if I can find the pattern for that as it might be at home.
Myst..
