Wet is just the word we use to describe the sensation in English. Realistically the same sensation comes from the liquid form of other elements, the only issue with that being that humans potentially can't cope with the melting/freezing points of the other substances (e.g. liquid nitrogen would freeze burn you).

Yes, I did - I had a free day from work and the time to do it. It was not easy!
