Needle storage

Hi everyone, I have a large stock of cross stitch needles. There are in a bit of a mix up. Any new project I buy new needles. Needing to do a clear out and a bit of organisation

1. How does everyone store the needles in individual sizes.

2. With loose needles how can you determine the size.

Many thanks

Doreen

I have a few wooden needle tubes, marked with the size, and also a needlebook where I try to keep to one size/type per felt "page", and a quickie needleroll where I've actually embroidered the sizes on the felt, then stick the right size close to the number.

Mabel, thank you for the great idea of a felt "page" for quickies. It is so simple, but so great.

it's really quick too, and takes next to no sewing - none, in fact, if you don't want the numbers embroidered on! Here are some pics to show how it works, it only takes two pieces of felt and a bit of ribbon, so you could make several (one for the living room, one for wherever else you stitch, one for your stitching-on-the-go bag, .....)

Not my idea, I'm afraid - I nicked it from a blog :-) (Mary Corbet's I think.) I loved how simple it was, and the felt just sticks to the felt so there's no sewing whatsoever.

Ah, found it - you can read Mary Corbet's explanation here.
