Needlecases

Does anyone know a good tutorial/ have any good advice on how to make a needlecase? I'm wanting to turn one of my projects into one, but have no idea where to start...

I didn't think I needed a needle case but having seen your one Mabel I definately do. Your work is absolutely beautiful.

I've pm'ed a few people but it looks like I'd better just post the notes :

* Design the chart for your needlecase. It should be a rectangle in landscape orientation, at least twice as long as it is high. The left will be the back of the needlecase, the right will be the front.
* Stitch the entire design, then backstitch a rectangle around it – this will be the size of the needlecase. Backstitch a rectangle of exactly the same size on a second piece of fabric of the same count.
* Cut the two pieces of fabric following the backstitched line, leaving a seam allowance of about half an inch. Chamfer the corners to within a fifth of an inch of the backstitching.
* If you want the outside of the needlecase to be a bit stiffer, cut two pieces of thick vilene to fit within the backstitched rectangle, and iron onto the reverse side of both pieces of fabric.
* Fold the seams inwards right up to the backstitching, and iron them flat.
* Place the two pieces of fabric together, right side out, and whipstitch together by taking the needle underneath a backstitch on the first piece of fabric then underneath the corresponding backstitch on the second piece.
* Cut two rectangles of felt slightly smaller than the stitched outline. Place them centred onto the inside of the fabric and stitch them in place with a line of backstitch vertically through the centre (up to you whether you go through one or both layers – going through both will make the spine a bit more defined).
* Fold so that it forms a booklet, place between two thick towels and iron or put some heavy books on top for a few hours. If desired, finish of by tying a ribbon into the fold, with a bow on the spine.

Grumble Grumble Grumble
I have had nothing but trouble with my quick little needlebook.
I originally was going to stitch on regular fabric using a waste canvas grid. When I was preparing my fabric, I bought iron on interfacing so the fabric was a little stiffer.. wasn't paying any attention and ironed on the wrong side.. made a mess of my iron and had to clean it.
Then when whip stitching the waste canvas I realized I bought the wrong size.. 8.5 instead of 14.. grumble grumble.. back to the store the next day for the right stuff. Started stitching with the right size waste canvas but didn't think the grid was very evenly spaced.. so gave all that up and just stitched onto regular 14ct Aida.
I had photo copied the pattern from a book I checked out from the library... I must have thrown it away because I searched my house and could not find it.. luckily I had not yet returned the book.
I stitched up my designs.. and of course, had troubles with the DMC metalic thread I used as backstitching. I will never use it again.. from now on it will be Kreinik for this girl.
Last night was assembly.. I cut out the cover piece, cut out the inside, went to assemble and realized that I had miscounted.. the inside piece was longer and wider than the front side... grumble grumble grumble ... I had already stitched on my snap closure, and stitched on the felt "pages." I just had to laugh.. what more could go wrong with this quick, fun little project?? Maybe I just doomed myself by asking that question.. it could all go up in flames tomorrow.
