It's really nice to see Amanda's excellent designs being truly appreciated. There is one which I think is perfect for shoe lovers out there on the subscriber's page in The World of Cross Stitching Issue 201. Congrats Amanda and keep up the gorgeous work! *Sorry if this has already been posted*

She seems to have designs all over! The one in World of Cross stitching is the nicest in that mag!

Well done!

Thank you all. The mag forgot to let me know about the latest WOCS design and sent me the "shop" copy rather than the "subscribers" copy, which is no good to me if the design is in the subscribers copy, is it? Niki has kindly offered to send me the design from her mag. That is why I love this forum....everyone is kind and sharing.......a good community to be part of!

This may be of interest to those of you who get WOCS? There's a wedding bouquet design published in the next issue that has a little story attached, but unknown to the mag eds :)
I used the names Louisa and Richard for a specific reason. They are my DH's great great grandparents who didn't marry each other. Louisa was separated from her husband but not divorced, so was therefore unable to marry Richard. Louisa and Richard lived together in Victorian England (how shocking for those times!) until Louisa spent her final years in an asylum. She suffered with post-natal depression.
The wedding bouquet was my personal dedication to Louisa and Richard and for the marriage that couldn't happen in their lifetime. The fee for the design is being donated to a Bristol based post-natal depression support group called "Mothers for Mothers".
A little background there, although not entirely to do with stitching!

That is really touching Amanda. I appreciate knowing the little stories like that!

Ill have to look out for it, I've cancelled my sub to WOXS but might get 2 more copies!

A great great aunt of mine ended up in an asylum as well, sadly this was in the late 1800's. it was an awful thing to happen to her, she was young and suffered from depression/mania/PTSD. Such a tragic story for both of these.

Amanda, that is a touching but sad story. I think your using their names in a wedding bouquet design is something they would have truly appreciated. The story about your great aunt is also touching, Niki. Stories like these remind me that the "good old days" I love to read about in romances and historical novels were not always by any means "good". For one thing, I wouldn't have been able to be on such an amazing, international forum like this one!

:applesauce: :applesauce: Congratulations, Amanda, on your wonderful achievements! I saw one of your designs in CSG too. Will there be one in Cross stitch Collection at some time?

Your story is really touching. Just being divorced in the Victorian era was scandalous - especially for women. And to live with someone too! They must have been very much in love and very brave to risk the social stigma that would occur in those times. It must have been very hard for them. I'm sorry she ended her days in an asylum. That is very sad.
I think it's wonderful you're honouring them this way.
