I'm popping in to the ward to have a rest on a nice clean bed Serinde :)

I'm in the ward because I have developed an unpleasant problem, sacroiliac joint dysfunction.

I went back to work full time in November, a new retail job, mostly customer based no heavy lifting but on my feet all day, by week four I was in so much pain at the end of my shifts I was having to lift my operated leg onto the clutch to drive home, not good.
During one of my shifts I had to go and sit in the canteen as I was in agony and just burst into tears, the long and short of it my manager was really lovely I told her I couldn't cope with being on my feet all day so she put me down as a leaver but said I could go back when I'm better.
I have been resting and I do feel a bit better but I am going to the GP on Thursday to be referred for physio, I have had this condition before and was treated for it but I don't know what exercises I can do safely with my replacement so I better see a professional!
I'm going to have to rethink what I can do for a job I don't like to think of myself as having a disability but I do, maybe a part time sitting down job is the way to go for now.

 Hope the doctor can help relieve the pain and that physical therapy is the cure you need. Maybe a job where you can sit some of the time is the answer. Perhaps your manager can help you come up with a plan that will work for both of you. There might be some paper work duties you could do when not directly selling? What is most important is your health. In the meantime, this is a great place to rest for a while.

I think I need some time in St Cross Stitchers Hospital.

I have has an operation on my eye actually on both eyes. For a couple of day afterwards I had to we’re a blindfold on both eyeso was completely blind. So my cross stitching went out of the window.

I was totally dependant on my family from getting dressed to eating. You don’t realise how important your eyesight is until you loose it.

My eyes are slowly improving but the get sore if I do close work even with my magnifying glass. 1 over 1 on 36 count. Is a bit too much for me.

The ophthalmic surgeon said it would take at least 6 weeks. Have you got a bed available for that amount of time.

Have decided to put my stitching away and will have to be patient.

Lulu, have a good rest and I hope that all will go well at the doctor's. As Carole said, your health is the most important. Keep us posted, please.
I brought you :tea: :cake:

Oh, Doreen, both eyes at the same time! It sounds as you have done very well so far. 1 over 1 on 36 count is so small, I don't think I can do that...
I brought a snugly, colourful hand sewn quilt to put on your bed and :choc:

How about a bed and a small but chunky design on Binca to get you back into things when your eyes improve? Then you can slowly work your way back to 36ct!

Take it easy LuLu.The hospital is the best idea for you. Plenty of T L C.I may join you , a few weeks ago I started taking statins but unfortunately I started having pains in my back and neck. Muscle pain is one of the side effects.Dr told me to stop taking them and to have another blood test in a months time. They will prescribe a different one but honestly I would rather not take them at all. I need a comfy bed and fluffy pillows.

1 over 1 on 36 would be too much for my eyes under regular circumstances! Of course a bed is always available here, and through that revolving door is the Stash & Grab, and the other door leads into the Winter Garden. No reason for you to sit here if you feel like stretching your legs, after all.

Everyone is under the excellent care of Nurse Polly, I see. :D

Poppy thank you for the tea and cake..delicious and certainly helping with my recovery :)

Oh Doreen poor you, I hope your eye's recover quickly and you can get back to your stitching soon.

Fiddler I can understand your reluctance to take the statins with those kind of side effects, I hope the doctors can give you something more suitable, in the meantime I've plumped up your pillows you can join me and Doreen in the ward, my husband has just brought in a huge lemon drizzle cake and he's just putting the kettle on :tea:

I hope everyone visiting the ward has a speedy recovery big hugs :grouphug:

I am sorry to see that there are multiple occupants in the Hospital so soon after New Year's but know that y'all will be feeling better with a little (or a lot) of pampering from the best nursing staff ever!! Hope recovery is short and sweet for each of you. Anyone who needs help getting out to the Garden let me know. As long as it isn't covered in snow it will be a lovely way to spend a sunny afternoon.

I hope that the pain is diminishing now that you have stopped the statins, Fiddler. How do you feel now? I can see Carole is here too, we brought you your favourite treat.

Let's all have a little stroll in the Garden for some fresh air. There are benches, if you want to sit down, Lulu and Doreen, you can lean on our arms, if you are not quite sure of your sight yet.

I'm happy to say I don't think I'll need a bed. I think a chair by a window will be sufficient. Having done 5 months of chemotherapy, surgery was a great success, with the tumor completely gone. I start radiation therapy next week, which will last six weeks. I'm regaining enough strength to increasing my household chores, but I still spend a lot of my days stitching!

Great news Cindy! Have the best chair in the house, your favourite comforting drink and snack, and stitch overlooking the garden/lake/sea/mountains (whatever takes your fancy) :-)

Thank you all for your kind well wishes! I'm currently x-stitching a wedding sampler for the daughter getting married in September. I'm also looking for the fabric she wants for her dress, which is proving to be elusive. So far I've done 3 baby quilts and crocheted multiple afghans, so I'm off to a busy start this year!

So good to hear that surgery was successful and you are up and trotting again and definitely keeping busy. :x:  you soon find the fabric for your daughter's wedding dress. ;)

CW, if and when you see this...I hope you get the September project done. I hope all the best for the great day. I mean the "I do!" day. And of course all the best to the happy couple who says those words.
Painkillers have kept my pains pretty much in control, same as taking it easy and resting. Let's hope I do not need to be here any time soon. I mean as a patient. One year S and her poor team almost drowned in work, when they had to walk me around (rheuma hurt so much I could barely walk) and bring me tea spiced with ginger at least twice a day. I spent weeks on the ward. The poor nurses had to help with my feminine side too. Oh well, such is life, when you're a woman.

Eye drops at the eye specialist so I can't work - but I can't read or stitch either! What a waste :-(
